Nick Palmer and Mac Parker were, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Even though the weather was a bit on the cold side quite a few racing fans turned out for the usual Saturday night racing program. J ust before the Feature race started as the cars were on .the last warm up lap before dropping the green flag, the entire light ing system went out. At first it was thought that a fuse on the transformer went out. Luckily there were several employees of the Blue Ridge Coop on hand for the races and after taking a fast trip to Young Harris to get a pole to reset the fuse. It was dis covered that the transformer had gone out. The linemen radioed the Co-op's material yard and ordered a trans former to be delivered to the race track. After the trans former was replaced the feature race got underway about an hour and twenty five minutes late. Some of the fans left, but most stayed to see the feature race. Since the lights had to go out, it is fortunate that they went out just before the green flag was to drop. Had the cars been given the green flag and then gone out, it is no telling what might have happened. Promoters of the Raceway have announced that arrange ments are underway to have the so called "Weaker Sex" stage a twenty five lap race October 14th. It will be de signated a Powder Puff derby. As of now about fifteen "girls" have signed applications to en ter. The management will try to secure cars for those that do not have access to a car and anyone, girls that is, that would like to enter, you may do so by contacting any of the officials of the raceway. It will consist of twenty five laps and will pay a purse of 85.00, divided as follows, SO. 00 for 1st., 25.00 for 2nd., and 10.00 for 3rd positions. All "girls" that have already signed entry blanks and those that would like to enter are asked to meet with the of ficials for a short meeting be fore the races get under way this Saturday to determine ] what day or night they would like to have the track opened so that they might get in a few practice laps. This "Powder Puff" der by will be an added attraction to the already scheduled four racing events. Newport 2-Door Hardtop New Yorker 4-Door Hardtop ANNOUNCING THE 1968 CHRYSLERS.
