Frances Jones of Murphy and
the late Leonard Jones,
became the bride of Patrick
Roger Durner, Jr. of Ashe
ville Saturday morning at 11
at St. Lawrence Catholic
Church in Asheville.
He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Roger Dumer of Ashe
ville.

The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Kenneth
Jones.
She wore a dress of satin
peau de soi styled with em
pire waist, scoop neck and
long sleeved with a motif of
re-embroidered lace down the
front. The detachable circular

veil of imported illusion was
attached to a cluster of seed
pearls and sequens.
Mrs. Sandra Hicks, sister
of the bride, served as matron
of honor.

sage from the bridal bouquet.
The couple will reside in
Asheville.
Mrs. Dumer is a graduate
of Murphy High School. She
attended Memorial Mission
Hospital School of Nursing and
is now employed as a nurse
at the hospital.
The groom graduated from
Lee Edwards High School.
He ia a veteran of the U. S.
Navy and is now employed by
Hayes and Hopson.

Hold Meetings
HIWASSEE DAM -The Hi
wassee Dam Senior Citizens
met on Wednesday October
23 in the home of Mrs. Edith
Reid.
Mrs. Lois Barnett, coor
dinator gave a demonstration
on aluminum etching.
Refreshments was served to
the seven members present.
The next meeting will be
November 16 with Mrs. Gar
ner.

tress work shop Wednesday
and Thursday at the RockGym
in Murphy.
Mrs. Lois Barnett, coor
dinator was in charge of the
work shop.
Approximately 30 attended
the work shop eachday and
enjoyed a covered dish din
ner.

Rev. R.W. Prevost officiated
in the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Martin V. Doug
las of Murphy and the bride
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Loren C. Davis of
Murphy.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was attired
in a formal gown of Ivory peau
de soie, designed by
Exquisette Bridals of New
York. Chantilly lace graced
the empire waistline and edged
the long fitted sleeves. The
molded bodice featured a
modified scoop neckline. The
tubulas court train was
circled with wide bands of
matching lace. Her elbow
length veil of illusion was
attached to a seed pearl crown.
She carried a cascade of white
roses.
Miss Susan Douglas was her
sister's maid of honor. She
chose a dress of moss green
chiffon and beige crepe. A
fitted bodice with long sleeves
and scoop neckline topped the
easy formal length skirt. A
wide back panel of beige crepe
was outlined with moss green
and topped by a designer bow,
with matching headdress of
Illusion and carried a nose
gay of bronze mums.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Charlotte Stalcup and Miss
Peggy Hyde of Murphy. Their
gowns were identical to that of
the maid of honor and they
carried nosegays of bronze
mums. Miss Tanya McConnell
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph McConnell of Murphy,
was flower girl. She wore a
formal gown of moss green
chiffon. Honorary brides
maids were Susie McDonald,
Karol Kaye, Sandy Rogers and
Mrs. Kenny Jane Palmer.
Billy Forsyth of Murphy
served as best man. Ring
bearer was Bob Gentry,
nephew of the groom. Ushers
included Tommy Palmer,
Samuel Davis, Gary Bryson,
Dave Alverson all of Murphy
and Mike Smith of Fayette
ville, N.C.
A program of nuptial
music was presented by Miss
Janet Hamilton organist and
Mrs. Velma Burch vocalist.
Mrs. Burch sang "Because"
and "The Lord's Prayer".
The bride's mother chose
a two-piece, deep green lace
dress with matching
accessories. The bride
groom's mother wore a two
piece gold lace dress with
matching accessories. Each
wore a corsage of cymbidium
orchids.
For her wedding trip the
bride wore a barley color
three piece knit suit with
brown accessories and sn or
chid corsage.
