Grandsons served as
pallbearers.
Mis. Peterson was a member
of Yellow Creek Baptist
Church and a native of Graham
County.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Mary Moody and Mrs.
Lillie Baker, both of
Robbinsville. a son, Archie
Peterson of Robbinsville: a
brother. John F. Shuter of
Robbinsville; 18 grandchildren,
26 great grandchildren and a
great great grandchild.

illnea.
She was a native of Graham
County, daughter of Mrs.
Minnie Phillips Elliott of
Robbinsville and the late A. V.
Elliott.
Surviving in addition to the
mother are the husband, Roy
Oit; three daughters, Mrs.
Boyd Lail, Mrs Pearson Crisp
and Mrs. Paul Millsaps, all of
Robbinsville; three sons. Gene,
Gerald and Ray On, all of
Robbinsville; five brothers,
Archie of Webster, Carl of
Lowell, Fowler of Columbus,
Ohio, Ronald of Detroit,
Mich., and Howard Elliott of
Robbinsville; and six
grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m.
tuesday in Sweetwater Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Clifford George
and the Rev. Earl Cable
officiated. Burial was in Old
Mother Cemetery. Nephews
served as pallbearers.
Townson Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.

ROBBINSVILLE - William
A. Gregg, 65, of Knoxville,
Tenn., died unexpectedly here
Saturday morning.
Survivors include a son,
Lloyd Gregg of Thunderbird
Mountain Resort near
Robbinsville.
Services and burial will be
held in Knoxville.
Townson Funeral Home was
in charge of local
arrangements.

ANDREWS - James Wiley
Stover, 80, of Andrews Rt. 1,
died Monday in a local hospital
after a long illness.
Surviving are the widow,
Mrs. Martha Derreberry Stover;
a daughter, Mrs. Aileen George
of Hendeersonville; and three
sons, Cecil and James Stover
both of HendersonviUe;
Kenneth Stover of Andrews;
two brothers, Henry of
Andrews and Kimsey Stover of
Mountain Home, Tenn.; a
sister, Mrs. Mary Stewart,
Andrews; 16 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30
p.m. Wednesday in Red Marble
Baptist Church, of which he
was a member.
The Rev. Clifford George
and the Rev. Buford Owenby
will officiate. Burial will be in
the chruch cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as
pallbearers.
TOWNSON INFANT
The infant daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. L. J. Townson of Rt.
2, died Saturday morning in a
Blairsville, Ga. hospital.
Surviving in addition to the
parents are a sister, Donna Ann
Townson and a brother, Ricky
Joe Townson, both of the
home; the maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Francis
Evans of Murphy; the paternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Townson of Murphy Rt.
2.
Services will be held at 3
p.m. Sunday in Mt. Zion
Baptist Church.
The Rev. Colvin Thompson
will officiate. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Sunday with their aunts, Misses
Kate and Leila Hayes.

Thomas Michael Jordan of
Murphy has been initiated into
the Phi Beta Kappa at the
University of North Carolina.
The Phi Beta Kappa is the

Lieutenant Governor
Sam Elliott, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C.D. Elliott of Murphy,
has been elected District
Lieutenant Govenor of the
North Carolina District West
Junior Civitan s. Elliott was
elected at the recent Junior
Civitan Convention in
Asheville, at the Battery Park
Hotel on April 18-20.
His term of office will
become effective July 1, 1969.
He will serve Area one, which
includes clubs from Forests
City, N.C., to Murphy. Sam is
presently a junior at Murphy
High School and President of
the Murphy High School
Junior Civitan Club.
Those who attended the
convention besides Elliott,
were Laurie Sprung; Daryl
Gossett, secretary of the
Murphy Club; and Grier Ivie,
treasurer of the Murphy Club.
