The Cherokee Scorn and Clay County Progress Thursday, July 8, 1971 Page 1 Vandalism At Campground In the early morning hours of Wednsday last week, vandals hit the Hanging Dog Campground, smashing windows in the checking trailer and destroying a number of signs. Vandalism of a federal campground is a federal offense, he said, and the investigation is being made jointly by FBIand the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department. Vandalism was also reported at two stores in the Hanging Dog section the same night. (Staff Photo) Brumby Gets Contract For T-shirts Ed Brumby, who owns and operates Brumby Textiles Mills in Murphy, announced this week that he has received a Defense Department contract for T-shirts which will keep his plant busy the rest of the year. The contract calls for three quarter of a million T-shirts, Brumby said, at a total price of $406,750. Liberty' Topic Of WSCS Program The Myers Chapel United Methodist W.S.C.S met at the home of Mrs. Carmen Anderson Tuesday night. Mrs. Ruby Corpening had the devotional. Mrs. Harry Hawk had charge of the program "Liberty". Others who took part in presenting the program were Mrs. Edna Ashe, Mrs. Carmen Anderson, Mrs. Cline McClure, Mrs. Edith Murray and Mrs. Carroll McClure. Cake, ice cream and coffee were served at the close of the meeting. Cynthia Watson On Dean's List W. Thomas Sawyer, Academic Dean at Truett McConnell College, in Cleveland, Georgia, has announced that among the 28 students achieveing Dean's List honors, is Miss Cynthia Watson, Marble. This is a distinctive honor, he said, especially in light of the small number of persons who made the list for the year ending Spring 1971. Miss Watson is a sophomore and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Watson, of Marble. She is a 1970 graduate of Andrews High School. Brooks, presently a senior at Mercer's Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, obtained a 4.0 during his junior year at Mercer's Southern School of Pharmacy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Brooks of Andrews. Brooks was nominated by the school body to represent the school as their delegate at the Student American Pharmaceutical Association in San Francisco, this past March. He has also been elected by the student body to serve as President of the Student Body for the 1971-72 school year.
