TOENTON Jean Gray gave a chicken stew last Friday at her home for the Juniors and Seniors ef Tren ton High School. Following the supper the group attended the movies. Principal K. F. Autry gave a party last Saturday at his home, Four OakS, for the Juniors and Seniors of Trenton High. Sev eral neighbors were invited to the gathering to hear the glee club. . Mary Saunders of Wilmington spent the pa^t week-end with Lois Brock. Sybil and Janie Franks of Richlands spent last Wednesday with Mrs.' F. W. Foscue. Eula Jennings of Elizabeth City is the guest of Lois Brock for the week. Mrs. Fannie Smith of New Bern spent the past week with Mrs. S. W. Moore. Mrs. Burl Parker of Pollocks ville, Mrs. Bill Parker and Mrs. S. W. Moore of Trenton were shoppers in Kinston Saturday. Guy Eubanks and sons of Wil mington visited . relatives in Trenton during the past week end. Jack Mallard and Walter Bed dard were visitors of Swansboro last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lenzie Humph rey and child visited Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Quinn last Friday. D. H. McCormick was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brock. Mr. and Mrs. V.'l* Pollock and daughter, Jean, were week-end guests of Mrs. Pollock’s mother, Mrs. J. E. Elkin, at Whiteville. Mr. and Mrs. Swindell Pol lock and son, Dan, from Kemps ville, Va., were in Trenton visit ing friends and relatives over the week-end. Mrs. G./N. Noble .and daugh ter, Sue, returned home Tues day after a visit of several days with Mrs. Nobles’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z. V. Bunting in Beth el. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McCul lock were guests of Mrs. Mc<?ul lock’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ebb Barker, ovefr the week-end. They are npw making their home in Rocky Mount. Senator John D. Larkins at tended the Shrine Convention in Raleigh during the week. Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Meuller of Kinston visited Mrs. Mueller’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Dix on, Sr., recently. Mary Elizabeth Dixon, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Dixon, Jr., was christened in a private ceremony on May 14 at' Grace Episcopal Church in Tren ton. The Rev. Jack Roundtree officiated. Mrs. M. S. Clifton and grand daughter, Katie Clifton, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. J: K. Dixon, Jr. F. L. Black is in Parrott’s hos pital for treatment. Wm. K. L. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hammond entertained the Trenton School Faculty at a fish fry at their home in Trenton Wednesday evening. • Bridge Club Zora Gilbert Koonce was host ess to her bridge club and a- num ber of friends at her home*last Tuesday evening. Several pro gressions were played during which time coca-colas and salted nuts were served by the hostess, her mother, Mrs. Amos Koonce, and Elizabeth Jones. When scores were added Helen George was awarded a beautiful apron and matching pot holder as high scorer among club members. Mrs. Alta A. Koonce was awarded two linen handkerchiefs as sec ond high. Mrs. Leon S. Venters received a linen handkerchief as consolation. Mrs. Sue Lina Jones was awarded a prize identical to the one won by Miss George for high score among visitors. 'A traveling prize was won by Mrs. M. Wayne Foscue. It was a tiny clothes brush. A delicious salad course was served by Miss Koonce and her mother. Those present-were s Mesdames' Earl Franck, M. J., left last Fri day to return home after a two weeks visit with relatives here and at Swansboro. They were accompanied by their small daughter, Kay. Paul Koonce was a week-end visitor of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Koonce. Koonce was in town to attend the special homecom ing at Cypress Creek Church, which was held last Sunday. Mrs. M. H. Stacy of Chapel Hill was a guest of Mrs. M. E. Hines for the week-end. She attended the homecoming at Cy press Creek Church on Sunday. J:, were guests of Mrs. Austin Koonce on ’Hnn-, day. They were returning home after having Viisted their son, who is a student at Clemson Col lege' Dr. and Sirs. Dan Boyette of Kinston were dinner guests of Mr. and Sirs. J. K. Dixon, Jr., on Thursday evening. Later they were joined by Sir. and Mrs. V. L. Pollock and Mr. and Sirs. Nick Noble.-for two.tables of bridge. F. O. Muth of Snow Hill was the week-end guest of Sir. and Sirs. J. A. Koonce. Bridge Parly Mrs. Nelson S. Barker enter tained her ^bridge club and a jjupiber of visitors at her home last Friday evening. Cut roses and potted ferns decorated the living and dining rooms. Bridge was played for three progres sions. During the play, party mints and. coca-colas were served. A vase was presented to Mrs. B. B. N. Daniel, who was high scorer for the club. Helen George won a bon-bon dish as high scorer among the visitors. A linen handkerchief wds pre sented to Mrs. Leon S. Venters as a consolation gift. Refresh ments consisting of ginger ale and ice cream were served by the hostess. Those enjoying Mrs. Barker’s hospitality were: Mes dames Venters, Daniels, Earl Franck, John H. Pollock, Erving Robbins, William Parker, B. H. George, M. Wayne Foscue, D. Mack Griffin, and J. Austin Koonce, Misses Helen George and Myrtle Brock. CASE WORKER IN JONES Mary Edith Hollingsworth of La Grange,! case worker for the blind, visited the Jones County Public Welfare Department May 17th and 18th. ROGER WHUAMS AND E V. SCOTT OWNERS OF TOP PIG UTTERS * Latest reports on the annual Heavy Litter contest that is sponsored in Jones' and sur rounding counties Ijy the Five County Livestock Market in New Bern show that 4-H’er Roger Williams, son .of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Williams of the Oliver' Crossroad section, is top man in the 4-H division and E. V. Scott of the Oak Grove section is top man in’The adult division. Young Williams has a litter of 10 Buroc pigs that weighed in at 332% 1 pounds when they reached weaning age. Scott’s litter of 10 was just' under that of the 4-H club member with a weight of 330 pounds. T Jones County winners in this contest last year were 4-H’er . ■ Billy White of Pollocksville and Harold Mallard of Mallardtown.
