M”*' 016 fonnw Anna *“• Atchley, also has nine years to her credit in this phase of her church s work, having served seven years in Korea and two in China. ' The Lewis Family, which in cludes the Pastor’s 84-year-old mother, Mrs. Maggie Julia Lewis, have already become familiar with many of the members of the six congregations they will Lewis is a native of Carlisle, Arkansas, and received his sec flhdary education at Hendrix CoUd|e at Conway, Ark., and-at the Candler School of Theology .at -Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Before coming to the Mays ville Charge, Lewis served a four year pastorate at the Dover Charge in adjoining Craven County. Mrs, Lewis is a native of Sev iersville, Tenn., and in addition to her theological training is al so a Graduate Nurse. Lewis arm follow the same schedule as his predecessor. This is printed here for the conveni ence of the six congregations of his Charge: Pollocksville, second Sunday *r jack RIDER Leo Brody says his brother Jake is responsible^ the beau tiful fixtures, color scheme and entire design of that family's handsome new store up on Queen Street and if Leo can be be lieved, Jake is also responsible for another mighty smart idea which will pay much greater dividends than the fancy frpnt, neon signs and exquisite inter ior of their shop. This idea is a simple one—like most good ones—blit it is so simple that everyone else has overlooked it in the past, includ ing the entire community. I’m talking about the four large and well furnished lounges and tqil ets that the Freres Brody have provided for their customers. at 7:30 p. m., and fourth Sunday at 11 a. m. Belgrade, third and fourth Sundays at 7:30 p. m. Maysville, first and second Sundays at 11 a. m. idea and I hope the , j make a lot of money bringing this much-needed ity to Kinston’s down' shopping area. Several year’s familiarity with the plumbing in EurApe has caused me time after time since my return to this country to wonder at the stupidity of mu nicipal design that permits the creation of a town the size of Kinston with absolute^ no de cent public toilets and lavatories. We have hundreds of "human filling stations”, ranging from Coke boxes up to the big cafes all over town but we have never given equal consideration to the fact that people who fill up most inevitably empty themselves. folks say it’s not a nice sub ject—but that’s the trouble, ev erybody’s left the idea strictly alone because of the absurd no tion that there is something vul gar or immoral about perfom jpg acts that everyone has to perform regularly—well a tew are irregular. There are toilets in the courthouse, but at the very time they are most needed, Sat urday afternoon, the joint is locked up. Also very few peo ple have ever learned that the court house does have clean and ample restrooms. I make an un official motion here that the com missioners make some arrange ments for keeping these rest rooms open on Saturday. In this same vein, it has often occurred to me that we would have a far more effective force for the good of the merchants and the customers if we had a centrally located downtown' of fice for the Merchant’s Associa tion. Such a location could in clude a parcel checking and wrapping service, information to shoppers who are not familiar with the business .locations of Kinston FOR ENDURING MEMORY To Your Loved Ones Monuments and Markers, Family or Indmdual Made To Your Order KINSTON MARBLE & GRANITE WORKS 506 North Queen Street KINSTON STATEMENT OF CONDITION BANK Cash and Due from Banks U.
