1 Ernest Faulkner, second from toft above, well
known Oak Bridge section farmer of Lenoir
County* bad tobacco allotments totalling 82.7
acres last year on farms he owns, rents and man
ages for his sisters. Helen. Ruth, Rosa and Susan.
Faulkner overptooted this acreage by 474 acres,
Bhim a total acreage of 100.1. His mar
auds for the farms only showed disposi
76,616 pounds but it is stated by the Lenoir
County Production and Marketing Association's
County Committee that Faulkner, by using seven
or eight other marketing cards belonging to peo
ple in Duplin, Onslow and Lenoir Counties, sold
a total of 1104)00 pounds. On the basis of this
33.384-pound discrepancy,-Faulkner Tuesday first
had a fine of <1,220.20 levied against him and had
his 1060 tobacco acreage cut 3M acres. After
hearing the pleas of the sisters and other parties
involved in the planting and poundage discrep
ancies, the Committee reduced Us earlier and
heavier penalties to a total cut of 1M acres on all
farms. The Faulkner Sisters lost M acres on a
57.6 total allotment. Ernest Faulkner lost 8.1
acres of a 159 allotment and Julian West's allot
ment was reduced 5.7 acres on a total quota of
14.2 acres. The fine was reduced from 81.220 to
8702.45. This acreage cut for the several farms
will be used for the 1950 tobacco quotas. In the
