Anderson, a native of Baltimore, has been named general superintendent of con struction on the new Du Pont Dacron plant that is to he built in Lenoir County’s Con tentnea Neck township. The two Marines had been approached earlier in the even ing by a man at a South Queen Street service station who want ed to sell them some whisky. The Marines say it was this same would-be whisky peddler who committed the attack at South west Creek. A witness has told police that the whisky peddling assaulter of the Marine and his girl friend was riding in a car that had a CampLejeune license tag on it. Kinston and Lenoir County authorities -were faced with a frustrating situation oyer the weekend. Citizens of the Hugo community came in to swear out a warrant for C. I. Morris of Craven County, who had, ac cording to these affiants, bru tally beaten and stomped his three year old step child be cause the child had stepped in to a mud hole and messed up his new faster shoes. The fru stration arose when the war rant was sent to a Craven County constable for service since the alleged child-stamp er had returned to his home near Dover. The Craven Coun ty officer refused to serve' the warrant on the grounds that the seal was not stamped on it. Local officers say the seal was on the warrant. Sheriff At Watts Jones County Sheriff Jeter Taylor underwent a major op eration Tuesday at Watt Hos pital in Durham. He has been under treatment for some time for the kidney ailment which has now required sur gery. At press time his condi tion following the operation was not known but attending physicians felt that Taylor’s general physical condition was strong enough to take this major operation without any grave dangers. He is expected to be home from the hospital around the latter part of next week and possibly sooner.
