It is a week in which 4-H Club Anembers throughout the nation are urged to “take stock” of their achievements and to set higher goals of achievements for the future. Since its beginning in 1909, the 4-H Club in North Carolina has grown into an organization of over 140,000 in 1952. The principles upon which 4-H Club is based is largely responsible for such growth. The 4-H Motto “To Make the Best Better,” clearly states what 4-H strives to do. The purpose of 4-H Club work Is to train all rural boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 21 in better methods of farm and home practices and to devol op those traits of leadership and citizenship that will be Useful to them; regardless of occupation in later years. The 4-H Club Pledge truly bears this purpose out. The Pledge states: I Pledge— My Head to clearer think ing, My Heart to greater loyalty, My hands to larger service, and My Health to better living, for My Club, my community and -my country. The slogan of 4-H Club, in North Carolina is “4-H Trains Farm Youth in the Art of Liv ing,” and the National Theme Oils year is “WqrjEbqg Togeth Cetftty Home Agent' Want to see what can be done in a Room Improvement proj ect? Amelia’s fater put down new floring and .ceiled the room with sheet rock. After sanding the rough spots on the walls by hand, Amelia then painted her room. She mixed the paint to get the desired color. The floor ih Amelia’s room is lovely to look at! Following the advise of the Home Agent she finished her floor with a pene trating floor sealer and then waxed it with paste wax. Amelia has not finished with her room, only the walls and the floor. She has now started work on her furnishings. She plans to work on this as a long-tlma project and complete several new tasks each year. To do this she is making a plan which she will follow and keep records on hen work.
