Parker was fined $3,000 and the court costs in federal court three years ago so it would appear that he is no stranger to “bleeding free ly” from the pocketbook in court rooms. Jesse Jones, Kinston lawyer, ■will be the featured speaker for the evening and Earl Gray, voca tional ag teacher at the School, says that around 200 attendance is being planned for the occasion. Following the banquet a dance will be held in the school’s music room. State Adjutant Will Speak to Trenton Legion Post. Monday . Nash McGee, department adju tant for North Carolina and one of the best known American Legion naires in the state, will be the principal speaker at the regular meeting of Clen Newton Smith Post 154 Monday night. The meeting will be at 7:30 in spended on the condition he pay a $200 fine, the court costs and not violate any law for a period of two years. Jones Farm Bureau to Meet Friday Night The monthly meeting of the Jones County Farm Bureau is scheduled for 7:30 Friday night in the Ag Building in Trenton. A panel discussion on Farm Bur eau policies will be conducted by R. L. Fordham and Z. A. Koonce and Assistant Farm Agent Williams Shackelford will bring those in at tendance up to date on recent lo cal and national events that have particular bearing on the Jones •County farm situation. Boost in Polio Shots Given in Jones County Last weekend there was a sud den jump in the number of polio immunization shots in the Health Department Clinic in Trenton. Last week’s total of 109 shots given in the clinic was the largest num ber given this year. This brings the total for the year to just under 400. Health Officer Dr. R. J. Jones urges parents to have ail children under 19 given the shots. v Small Child Badly Cut In Tuesday Accident Nineteen month-old Vicki Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hill of Liberty Hill Road, suffered a painful cut on the head in a freak accident at about 10:45 Tues day morning. The child toddled out into the family backyard where her fathe^ father Hie swinging bli a deep and terrifying gash in the child’s forehead but Dr. Oscar Cranz sewed the gash up and the child was able to return to its home shortly after noon time. Woman Charged With Shotgun Assault in Saturday Shooting Martha White Moore, 27 year-old Kinston route one woman, is held without bond in the county jail fol lowing her arrest Saturday after noon following the shooting of Joe Phillips Jr., 27 year-old operator of a juke joint in the “Black Cat” section near Grifton. Officers from the sheriffs de partment say the woman fired a .12 gauge shotgun at Phillips fol lowing a quarrel (cause not men tioned). $$UUps threw up his hands to ward off the blast from the shot gun and the worst damage was done to his bands. Monday one thumb was amputat ed and other severe damage was done to his hands and a sprinkl ing of the shot hit Phillips in the chest.
