A former Marine Corps idiot, who
has beeh with Serv-Air Aviation
Corporation since November, 1953,
has been named Assistant Director
of Flying Safety at Stallings Air
Base.
diver O. Arnold, a native of
Okanogan, Washington, who now
resides at 2310 Carey Road in Kin
ston, came here as an instructor
pilot in November 1953. In Decem
ber 1965 he was named pilot in
structor in the Pilot Instructor
School here, a position he -held un
til the recent promotion to his pre
sent position. • ,
The new assistant flying safety
director is a retired Marine Corps
major. He served with the Marine
Corps from 1942 until 1951. He got
his wings as a Marine pilot in
August, 1943, when he graduated
from the Naval Aviation Cadet
program at Corpus Ghristi, Texas.
‘ While in the Marines Arnold was
a dive bomber pilot, fighter pilot
and’carrier pilot. While stationed
on the carrier USES Saipan.He was
also the flying safety officer for
the ship- Other Marine Corps as
signments included cherry Print,
Marine’ Barracks at Quantico, Vir
ginia, and the Naval Auxiliary Air
Stations at Vera Beach aril Day
tona Beach, Florida.
