If It does not move too fart, can easily be mistaken for growing prosperity. It en courages people to Invest their money, with hopes of getting more dollars back When they aelL, It la only when the monster threatens to get out of control. that Washington becomes alarmed. It la like a little fire that warms ' big fire that to those of ua who lived through^ boom and boat period cf the late ' 1930s and early 1930a, Inflation la On awesome and fearful thing. We know it can destroy men and brine a nation to tbs knee*. From World War I until 1991 we saw Inflation and bailed It prosperity. We learned then that inflation la the destroyer of pros perity, not Ua promotor. Wa ought to remember that now. President Baenhower’s warning that 1 is id immediate threat tc the national’wtilfhre was based on oonfldentlal reports by both government and economists financiers* are rising and to keep pace, that higher v prices. It is a vicious circle tnat no one seems able, or willing, to break. The difficulty is that none of us know just where the "breaking point” la between inflation and depression. At what point under Inflationary pressures will the economy snap? The signs that most of us see all point ‘toward continued pros * perlty. There is no Indication of scarcity. Industrial production is at tin all-time high. We have an. abundance of foods and fibers. National income in both dollars and consumers goods and services Is at an all-time high. Employ ment is at a record high of almost 67 million, and unemployment at a remarkably low 2.6 million. We are, as a nation, "living higher on the hog” than ever be fore. We are buying more hemes, automobiles, television sets, other conveniences and luxuries than ever before—much of It on the installment plan. Already we have ventured far beyond the point at which our economy collapsed in 1929. Wa know that there is a "breaking point” in any inflationary boon, but we don’t know where it is. Changes in temperature hasten egg spoilage. LEGAt NOTICES i NOT1CC TO CREDITORS., • The undersigned, having quali fied A- Executrix of the estate of E. J.
