pleted the 15-week infantry of
ficer basic course at The Infantry
School, Fort Banning, Ga. The
course is designed to acquaint the
newly commissioned officers with
the responsibilities and duties of
an infantry unit commander. Lieu
tenant Koonce is a 1955 graduate
of Jones Central High School and
attended North Carolina State Col
lege.

To Host institute’
North Carolina State College
will be.the scene of the first Agri
cultural Cooperative Institute to
be held in the statenext month,
Robert S. Boal, marketing spe
cialist for the N. C. Agricultural
Extension Service, has announced
that the first such Institute will
be held July 9 through July 11.
; Meetings will be in the College
Union 'Building. ,
Boal said that plans for the In
stitute were developed through
requests' from coop e T a f d v e s
throughout the state. There are
now around 400 known cooperatives
trusteeships, with legal machinery
to dissolve trusteeships in viola
tion of these limits.
These provisions are in line with
the recommendations of the Mc
Clellan Committee and they have
received Senator McClellan's sup
port. They are a step forward in
curbing abuses now existent in the
labor-imanagement field and at the
same time they do not penalize
honest Unions. Our Select Com
mittee will continue its investiga
tions and further recommendations
will be forthcoming.
