II I HI NOTES By Betty Jones and Mary Turner QEWnU I EAH WIKh9 “KEEP CHRISTMAS" The second year F.H.A. girls at Jones Central High School are put ting forth an effort to “Keep Christ in Christmas.” Fosters per taining to the Nativity are being prepared by' the girds and placed in stores and other public build ings throughout Jones County. (These girls believe that Christ mas should b« more than “just a time for exchanging gifts.” They believe “Christmas is a time of reverance and praise.” They wish to keep the real meaning of Christmas. TOP SALESMEN FOR P.T.A. DINNER WIN PRIZES The Parent-Teacher Association oi Jones Central High School of fered prizes to students for sell ing tickets to the P. T. A. dinner held December 5. These students were the top five salesmen. Susan Vassey, awarded first prize, a Bulova watch by Gooding’s Jewelry Store of Tren ton. Others allowed to select prizes were Jerry Pelletier, who chose a $25 Savings Bond given by the Branch Banking and Trust Com pany of Trenton, and Dorothy Phil yaw, who selected “The Roc ket”, yearbook of Jones Central High School. Glenda Harker chose a camera given by Bender Candy Company of Pollocksville, and Martha Pruitt cbose a Sheaffer fountain pen given by Trenton Drug Company. CENTRAL GIRLS DOWN PINK HILL 55-46 Jones Central's girl’s Basket ball team returned to the victor’s ranks with ‘ a showing before a large crowd, Friday night Decem ber 5 by defeating Pink Hill 55-46. The three high scorers were: Betty Jones 16, Peggy Craft 6 and Nola Bonner 6. The three standouts on defense were: Jo. Ann Craft, Linda Mills and Glenda Barker. Although Casey Price, Note Bon ner, and Maxine Spence didn’t see much action in this game, they will in the near future. Betty Jones, in good hum scored 8 shots out of 17 attempts from the floor. Jo Ann Craft, a junior got 6 rebounds during the game and Peggy Craft, a sophomore, got 5. F. H. A. HOLDS MEETING The F.H.A. of Jones Central held a meeting December 5 During the meeting the members decided to give a present at the end of the school year to the member who acquires the most merit points. A merit point is an hour spent ip some task related to teaching, such as reading to 9mall children, help ing a younger brother or sister with a lesson, or reading a maga zine for teachers. Ann Scott was appointed by the president, Ellender Jenkins, to keep a record of the merit points Jin order to buy a gift for the one with the most points, each month each member pays a nickel except the one who has the most points for that month. CENTRAL WINS EASILY On Friday night, December 5, Jones Central played host to Pink Hill. In the first quarter the “Rockets” pulled to an early lead of 15-8 by the end of the quarter with Hood scoring 6 of the .points. The subsitutes played very well and ended the gaime with a 60-46 decision. High scorers for Pink Hill were Howard with 16 and Turner wtih 10. High man for Central was Mal lard with 22: Hood followed with 16. In the rebound department Barbee was high with 4, the rest of the rebounds being evenly dis tributed over the rest of the team.
