Civil Term Jones Superior Court Set for Next Week judge weary Stevens <a Warsaw is scheduled to preside 0ver a one week civil term erf JonCs County Superior Court next week. Cases on the calendar for trial —few of which are actually ex pected to be heard—include the following: 'Lindsey V. Maness against Ru dolph Howard, P. J. West against Mrs. Qsa Smith, a custody hear ing over minor children, Pollyan na Virginia, Calvin and Thelma Mae Riggs. . Litigation over the will of Rob ert Webster Gooding. A family property dispute is in volved in' the suit brought by Mrs. Kyle Wilcox Shipley and others a ,gainst Lee F. Wilcox and wife. A squabble over timber in the action brought by Mr. and Mrs. Luby Hardison against C. H. Gray of Raleigh. One complex controversy over ownership of several hundred acres of land1 is expected- to be aired. This action was brought by R. M. McLawhom and Thelma McLaw hom Craft against the Riegel Pa per Corporation. Dr. A. L. Hyatt is being sued by Johnson & Wimsatt, Inc. over tim ber lands near Dover. And an action brought by Jennie Don Matlocks Named j Charter (President JC Science Club On October 26, 1969, the students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of Jones central High School, with • not less than a “B” average in science and math, met to organ ize a Science and Math Club. Nimrod Carroll and Mrs. Geeorge Upock met with the group which consisted of sixty four students. ■Officers were elected as follows: Don Mattocks, president; Tommie Foscue, vice-president; Carolyn Price, secretary and treasurer, and Pat Huffman, reporter. The group discussed dues and it was decided not to have any this year. If any money is needed for expenses, it will be appropriated by the members. A committee was appointed to draw up a Constitution. On this committee were the officers and Wellyn Dawson, Margaret Jones, and Evangeline Tsioumas. The plan of the club is to increase student interest in science and math, Whitfield Morgan against Isaac Morgan is*the final case set for hearing. Trenton Volunteer Firemen Have Stew and Demonstration The Trenton Volunteer Fire De partment held a fish stew Monday night and guests were Chief Joe Haley and Captain David Lee of Kinston, and John-D. Larkins. Al so, tiie Trenton Boy Scout Troop 109 were guests and took part in the activities, with their leader, J. B. Franck. A trash fire demonstration took pinw on the fair grounds, and af ter . being instructed about the equipment, the boy scouts donned bats and firemans clothes and with the help of the firemen, put out the Ire. Chief Haley said that it was a * . v r- • wonderful exhibition and good j training for the scouts, who I thoroughly enjoyed the whole even ing. Approximately 45 persons were present, including 18 scouts. Land Transfers During the past week Jones County Register of Deeds Mrs. D. W. Smith UO acres in Pollocksville Over Indulgence is Problem of Five in Jones County Trouble Last week was fair week in Trenton and generally a little more activity is expected1 than in a nor mal week by Sheriff Brown Yates. Five persons sobered up in the county jail, including two carnival workers, Robert Smith and Harold Raynard. Local folks who bent their elbow a little'too freely in cluded Haywood Philyaw of Com Ifort, Henman Mills and Eddie Lee ■ Thomas both of Trenton. I The two carnival workers were 1 also charged with malicious dam j age to private property. Philyaw , got out of the Trenton jail Friday, went to Kinston and got put in the jail there for the same reason. Maysville Rotarians 'Attend Goldsboro Meeting With Hodges The Maysville Rotary cancelled their regular weekly meeting in j order to attend the meeting at ' Goldsboro when Governor Luther ' Hodges was guest speaer. Tom Foscue introduced the Gov ernor. The meeting was held in 1 the Goldsboro High School and following the meeting dinner was served in the school cafeteria. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Starling Pelletier, Mr. and Mr$. Robert Mattocks, Mr. and Mrs. John Holden, Mr. and Mrs. Saim Pruitt, Tom Foscue and daughter, Tommie Rudolph Pelle tier, Rufus Pelletier and Milan La Roque. Township. , Fropi David R. Everything is in readiness for the rones County Home Tour to be eld in the county Wednesday, Nov. . The tour of five rural homes is ponsored by the Jones County lome Demonstration Clubs. According to Mrs. Faytie Gray, tome economics agent, much plan ting has been done with families his year to meet the family needs n housing. Throughout the year, ifrs. Gray has emphasized that in uder for the family to gain the freatest satisfaction from their tomes it should be planned for in ;erest and activities of all family nembers. . At' the first home, visitors will dew the new addition to the home *f Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mallard, Pollocksville. Featured in the Mnl ard home is the new Scheirick ritchen. The cabinets are birch tnd features convenient storage ind working areas for a modem iousewife. The kitchen is U-shap ed with a built-in oven. The birch paneling continues in the dining area. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duval, Pollocksville, is made of cinder blocks. This home features various types of blocks throughout the home. The livingroom fireplace features split rock made from con crete. DuVal did a lot of the work on his house himself. After touring two homes, the group will meet at the Agricultural Building for a picnic lunch. Following luhich, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tofoe Heath, Trenton, Rt. 1, will be opened to guests. The kitchen has been completely remodeled and now has new win dows, is U-shaped, and has a hood ed sjove. Mrs. Heath has more storage space than ever before. A utility room has been added for the freezer and it has a sink, stor age space for conserved food, and a gun closet. Two bathrooms were added also. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Phillips, Trenton, Rt. 1, have a new home with kitchen and family room to gether. The business center is fea tured. A planned area in which to keep all of the books and plans that contribute toward an efficiently managed farm is a necessary part of the center. Built-in features help in the organization of space and provide an opportunity for gra cious and unhampered living. This home is an example of good home planning. The home of T/r. and Mrs. Del mas Brown, Dover, Rt. 2, will show how a tenant house was converted into a convenient, livable home. Brown did most of the planning himself. The kitchen features a corner sink, bar, and sufficient storage space. The tour will begin at 9:30 a. m. and all interested persons are urged to attend. MRS. JACK MALLARD, Pollocksville, is shown in her new Scheirick kitchen which features the bui!t in oven. This is one of the five homes to be toured November 4th. , HOME TOUR — Mr*.
