For the word had gone out along about first frost that the adminis tration would support the House Speaker from down Wilmington way. In his little press conference held last week, Gill implied adminis tration support was his’n. It is known here that Treasurer Gill has been on the inner circle of dungs around #e Capitol for about five years how. tils office is conveniently located just across from the Governor’s— and if he Should make the grade he would move only about 20 feet west. One of the finest gerttlemen ever to serve in the General Assembly is Roy Rome of Bungaiw., He has served under every Governor since 1996 ... in the State Senate. With the exception of 185?—he ran tor Lieutenant Governor in 1962 and was beaten by Luther Hodges—Rowe has represented Pender, Duplin, New Hanover, and Sampson counties as one of their two senators tor the Ninth District. Of course, if he had won in 1992, he would be Governor .today. Rowe has wide business inter ests—and 90 he has decided not to run tor the State Senate next year. He will be missed in Raleigh. SECOND TIME . . . Glad to see that Airman First Class Royster P. Gasidll of Pope Air Force Base has been honored as Airman of the Month. This marks the second time this high honor has came to young GaskiH. He won the same award in June of 1968. He is the 25 year-old son of Mrs. W. W.
