• - • . ^ ?*' By Mr*. Fr*d Pippin Mrs. J. E. Davis Given Birthday Party at Home of Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Dick Morton and Mrs. J. E. Davis returned to Trenton after spending several d^ys in Mt. Olive. Mrs. Davis recently celebrated her 81st birthday an the home of her daughter, Morton. Present for the occassion were her children, Mr. and Mrs. Thru man Davis and son John and Jac kie of Mount Olive, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davis and daughters, Rhonda and .Rita, of Goldsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and children, Carol and Stevie, of La Plata, Md. ,, Other out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Joyner of Farmville, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lee of Farmville, Edith Ann Lee and Carl Wester Jr of Atlantic Christian College. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served and many gifts were received by the honoree. Elaine Croom and Nancy Davenport Have Birthday Dance Elaine Croom and Nancy Daven port celebrated their 16th and 17th birthdays Saturday night ’with a dance at the Woman’s Club. About 75 teenagers attend the semi-formal dance and party. The decorations were pink, blue and white, of roses and crepe paper. The mantels were covered with, pink roses and candles and the table was covered with a white cloth with roses and leaves attached ‘to the skirt. Centered on the table was an arrangement of pink roses and ivy with the wall behind draped in strips of crepe' papeif. Hawaiian punch was served with pink and white petit-fours, nuts, mints, cook ies, and open face sandwiches. Chaperoning were their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Croom, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Green and also Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Hill and Mrs. Louis Davenport. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Millis Wright of Lewiston made a “pop calH on Mrs. Jake Croom Monday morn ing, after being in Kinston on bus iness. * * * Recently Mr. and Mrs. Bill Adams and boys went to Frederick, Md. to visit her father, Maynard John son, and Mlrs. Johnson for the weekend. On Thanksgiving day they went to Rocky Mount to visit Bill’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Adams, and Sunday her sister, Mrs. Frank Cuthrell, and her husband and children came to see them from Danville, Va. While here they visit Mr. Cuthrell’s family at Aurora. • • • Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Street Kornegay; them went on to Frank-; lin, Va. to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Q. Fowler, until.the weekend. • • • Jason Arthur came home from Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jack sonville last Wednesday in time' for Thanksgiving and had lots of com pany Sunday. Parsons, Mrs. Arthur’s parents, JMc. and Mrs. Leroy Collins, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Rowe all of Maysville and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Parsons of Hubert. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spann of Greenville spent Wednesday night with his mothpr, Mrs. Earl Spann, and Thursday Ronald Spann and a friend came from Seymour Johnson Air Base in Goldsboro, apd Mrs. Douglas Spence and her children from Kinston. Then Friday, Mrs. Spann went to spend the weekend • * * The Marvin Thomas family went to Casey’s Chapel Thursday to see Mary’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Owen, and left again Saturday for Sanford to visit Marvin’s re latives. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Rogers Pollock and children Ronnie and Teresa went to Front Royal, Va. Thursday to see a cousin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Loftin. Mean while, another son, Charles, went to visit Harry Pollock in La Grange, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollock, and they all came home late Sunday night. • * * Miss Letha Pridgen spent Wed nesday night in Maysville with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mhttocks and went to Burgaw Thursday to spend the remainder of the week with Mr. and Mrs. John Yates, Mr. and Mrs; Thomas Stilley rode to Burgaw Sunday to see the Yates family. Mrs. Mallard, a'bride of November 4, was Olivia Ann Davis, of Beaufort, and has been in the spotlight for the past year. She was first runnerup in the Miss Ral eigh contest this y^ar and then won the Dairy Princess Contest 'in Wake County. After that, she was asked to be in the Carteret County beau ty contest, and ended up being Miss Carteret County. As a county win ner, she was alio in the Miss North Carolina contest and did a drama tic skit during the pageant. She and Tony are both employed in Raleigh. Mrs. Frank Brbyk of Charles ton, S.
