Leslie'Parker who received a gift for her ex pected baby, Mrs. Hazel Turnage, Mrs. Fred Foscue, Mrs. Rogers Pollock; who won high score, Mrs. J. R. Franck, who won loW score, Mrs. Harold-Hargett Jr., who re ceived a gift her baby gitj, Mrs. Fred Pippin and Mrs. Wilson Har riett. ^ ' Soft drinks and snacks were1 - served during play. PERSONALS . Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Humphrey and son, Charles, of Kinston were Sunday guests of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Parker. • • • Suzannd Mallard was at home from East Carolina College for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Franck and family were dinner guests of the Bill Griffin family in Pollocksville Sunday. ( • * « Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Thomas and family went to Sanford for the weekend to visit Marvin’s relatives. ' • • • Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stilley and Brenda went to South Mills for the weekend to visit their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Cherry. • • • The Grover Mallards and daugh ter, Macy, went to Fayetteville Sunday to visit their children, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Johnson and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs., T. J. Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Odom and children, and a granddaughter, Mr. and, Mrs. lames L. BieJjer. Mr. Johnson was in the hospital fol lowing an appendectomy. Macy_ went to Albertson Monday night to attend ajt American Legion Aux iliary meeting. • • • Mrs. Bill Adams went to Green ville Saturday to take Dorothy Eubanks, Gerald Eubanks and Jo Ann Smith to a Publciation Con ference at East Carolina College. Husband Bill went to Rocky Mount for the day. • * • Reverend Walton Bass went to East Carolina College Saturday to accompany a group at the Music Conference. They were Peggy Thomas, Sterling Rouse, and Dotty Kennedy. • * • Tom Lowery returned1 form the hospital Friday. ■ ' * * * G. C. Herritage came home dur ing the weekend to get his car to take to Chapel Hill, where Mes. Herritage was to have an. operation this past Wednesday. The opera tion was postponed from last Tues day, and Mrs. Herritage spent the ■ weekend in Rocky Mount with her daughter,. Mrs. W: C. Coleman. James Herritage was here Sunday from Jacksonville- - ■ ' Mr. aind Mrs. Marvin Hardy ani daughters, Jackie, Judy and Mar sha, are moving to Ft. Lauderdale Florida this week where Marvit is Working with Osburn Service and Equipment 'Co. Stuprise Party for Mrs* George Mercer Mrs. George Mercer was sur. prised Tuesday afternoon aftei school when the teachers .of Tren fon School had a called teacherf meeting. :j Mrs. Mertef was presented 9 corsage made up of baby rattlers for her expectant baby, and alsc received a book for baby’s mem ories. The group'then had refreshment! of cake, coffee and nuts. Boy Scout Troop 109 of Treenton held it's pre.-camporee training camp at Park’s Place oft the Trent River during this past weekend. The troop left Friday afternoon after sdiool and returned1 Sunday afternoon ,irom !a ■full weekend of preparation for the East Carolina Council Camporee to/be held at Wilson April 27-29. Emphasis was place on all phases Of camping and most of- the day Saturday was spent preparing for add practicing events to be held at camporee. 1 In spite of high winds and rain on Sunday morning, the scouts con tinued their training and held Sun day School. DUELERS BOUND OVER Following a preliminary hearing before Recorder Emmett Wooten last week both participants in a Georgetown 'duel were bound over for trial yi the June term of sup erior court, Retba Davis spd Charlie Redding are the accused duelists. Each admits emptying a pistol at the other following an argument. Miss Davis suffered a flesh wound in the arm.
