Everyone welcomes a new way to cook the familiar green bean. Ever
try them with a smoky cheese sauce? You’ll be surprised how different
and delicious they are that way.
GREEN BEANS WITH SMOKY SAUCE
(Makes 4 servings)
1 (5-ounce) jar Smoky Cheese French-style green beans
Spread ' OR
1 pound fresh green string beans 1 -can French-style green beans
OR V4 cup toasted blanched almonds
1 (10-ounce) package frozen (optional)
Place cheese spread in a small saucepan and place oyer low heat. Stir
occasionally while the cheese is melting. If a thinner sauce is desired, add
a small amount of milk or cream. Cook beans. Drain and place in a
serving dish. '
' Pour cheese sauce over beans. If desired, garnish with toasted almpndn.
This sauce is also good served over broccoli or lima beans.
Note: If canned beans are used, simply heat and drain.

to about $2,000 for Robert Reams.
Reams, who produces certified
tobacco and small grain seed at
his farm near Apex, averaged more
' than 3,000 pounds to the - acre on
five acres in 1961. His average for
his whole 20-acre allotment was

Here’s his nine-point, all-practice
system:
1. Soil testing.
2. Top-soiling eroded areas' of
fields.
3. Rotation — for Rfearns, fescue
with grain and tobacco.
4. Using drainage tile in poorly
drained.areas of fields.
