NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that a special election will be held
in the County of Jones, North Caro
lina, on November 6, 1962, for the
purpose of submitting to the qual
ified voters of said County the
question whether they shall ap
prove or disapprove, (1) the in
debtedness to be incurred by the
issuance of bonds of said County
of the maximum principal amount
of $240,000, and (2) the levy of a
tax for the payment of such 'bonds,
and (3) the bond order entitled
“Bond order authorizing the issu
ance of $240,000 School Bonds of
the County of Jones” adopted by
the Board of Commissioners on July
2, 1962, to authorize the issuance of
said bonds and the levy of such
tax. The bonds are authorized to
finance the cost of constructing in
the Jones County School Adminis
trative Unit, several new buildings
to be used as schoolhouses, school
garages, physical education and vo
cational education buildings, lunch
rooms and other school plant fa
cilities and to reconstruct, and en
large by the erection of additions,
several existing buildings located in
such unit and use for such pur
poses, and to acquire land, furnish
ings and equipment necessary for
such new or reconstructed or en
larged buildings.
The ballots to be used at said
election shall contain the (Words
“For the bond order authorizing

School Administrative Unit, sever

houses, school garages, physical
education and vocational educa
tional buildings, lunchrooms, and
other school plant facilities, and of
reconstructing and enlarging 'by the

Unit and used for such purposes*
and of acquiring the land, furnish
ings and equipment necessary there
for, and a tax therefor , and the
words “Against the bond order
authorizing $240,000 bonds to fi
nance the cost of constructing in
the Jones County School Adminis
trative Unit, several buildings to be
used as schoolhouses, school gar
ages, physical education and vo
cational education buildings, lunch
rooms, and other school plant fa
cilities and of reconstructing and

The registration books shall be
opened for the registration of vot

urday, October; 13, 1962, and shall
be closed at sunset on Saturday,
October 27, 1962. On' each day
(Sundays excepted) during such
period, the Registrar for each
election precinct in the County will
keep his book open between the
hours of 9:00 o’clock, A. M., and
sunset for the registration of vot
ers in such election' precinct. On
each Saturday during such period
each Registrar will attend at the
polling place in his election precinct
between the hours of 9 o’clock,
A. M», and sunset for the registra
tion of voters.

THE ISSUANCE OF $240,000
SCHOOL BONDS OF THE
COUNTY OF JONES;
WHEREAS, the County Board
of Education has determined that
existing school plant facilities in
the Jones County School Admin
istrative Unit are not adequate for
the maintenance of public schools
for the nine month’s school term
prescribed by law, and has request
ed the Board of Commissioners to
provide the sum of $240,000 to fi
nance additional school plant fa
cilities such as are described in
Section 1 of this Bond Order and
which said County Board of Ed

BE IT ORDERED by the Board
of Commissioners of the County of
Jones as follows:
Section L The Board' of Com
missioners of the County of Jones,
-has ascertained and hereby deter
mines that it is necessary to erect
in the Jones County School Ad
ministrative ' Unit several neVv
buildings to be used as school
garages, physical education and vo
cational education buildings, lunch
rooms and other school plant fa
cilities, and to reconstruct and en
large, by the erection of additiOns;
several existing buildings located in
such unit and used for such pur
poses, and to acquire land, furn
ishings and equipment necessary for
such new or: reconstructed or en
larged buildings in order to enable
the County of Jones, as an ad
ministrative agency of the" public
school system of the State of North
Carolina to maintain public schools
in said school administrative Unit
for the nine month’s school pre
scribed by law, and that it will be
necessary to expend for such pur
poses not less than $240,000 in ad
dition to other moneys which have

Section 2. In "order to raise the
money required to finance the
cost of erecting said new school
buildings and of reconstructing and
of enlarging, by the erection of
additions, said existing buildings,'
and of acquiring land and furnish
ings and equipment necessary for
such new and reconstructed and
enlarged buildings, bonds • of the
County of Jones are hereby auth
orized and shall be issued, pur
suant to the County Finance Act
of North Carolina. The maximum
aggregate principal amount of said
bonds authorized by this Bond Oi;
der shall be Two Hundred Forty
Thousand ($240,000) Dollars.
Section 3. A tax sufficient to pay
the principal of and interest on
said bonds when due shall be an
nually levied and collected.
Section 4. A statement of the
County debt of the County of Jones
