By Mrs. Nolan Janas Mrs. J. H. Wynn has CSrde at Her Home _ Mrs. J. R. Pelletier gave the de votional and scripture readings and led the program at the Monday af ternoon meeting of the Maysville Methodists Lillian Fojpcue Circle which was held at the home of Mrs. J. H. Wynn. The program topic was “Christ Above All” and pointed out the MYF motto. Assisting in its pres entation were Mesdames, C. C JDameron, I. F. House, B. L. Mat tocks and J. H. Wynn. A question •and answer period followed and Mrs. Pelletier gave the closing jwayer. During the business portion, pre sided over by Mrs. N. N. Mattocks, the group was reminded of the an nual community supper to be held August 8 at the community build ing. Deeds were reported and they were dismissed with the MYF ben ediction. Later, the members enjoyed re freshments. Susan Morgan Given 10th Birthday Party Susan Morgan celebrated her 10th birthday Monday afternoon at a party given her by her mother at her home here. The group enjoyed playing a numbers of games and afterwards were served refreshments of ice cream, cookies, drinks, cake and candy. Each child also received a favor. Those present were: Linda, Tom my, Nettie, Betty and Shirley Pro vost, Jonette Santamasso, Rhonda Jones, Cathy and Cookie, Michael Jones, Marie and Sharon Jarman, Debra; and Betty Hester, Wanda Cannon, Lynn, Mack and Michael Thompson, Pansy Foster, and Con nie Buck. 'Miss Shirley Green Honoree at Shower Miss Shirley Green of Moores boro was recently entertained by the ladies of' the Maysville Me morial Baptists WMS. The affair was held in Bell Hall of the church. Baskets of various flower ar rangements were placed around the room while the table, covered in white organdy over green, featur ed candles in the midst of a fan shapped flower arrangement, losing the colors of green and white. Green and white was also used in COUNTRY Gentleman DISTILLED LONDON DRY GIN 85 PROOF Distilled from 100% Grain the refreshments. Twenty five ladies greeted the honoree upon her arrival and pee-, sented her with a white and green corsage. She was attired in blue and white. Mrs. Wtlford Philyaw, Mrs. W. E. Henderson and Mrs. Janies Barbee led in playing a number of games after which the honoree op ened her many gifts. Refreshments consisted of punch, cake, pothto-chips and sandwiches. Miss Green will marry Joe Bar bee of Maysville August 19. mb Mrs. Bert Green of was here Thursday visiting F. House, Mrs. L.' L. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Mattocks and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Collins. * * * Johnny Elkins is home' again fol lowing a tour of duty overseas. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Jake Phillips and daughter, Elizabeth, were visitors in Greenville Sunday. • • Mrs. M. L. Tyndall was in Kins ton last week to visit her father who is ill. • * * Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Hank Roberson were Mr. and Mrs. Price of Jacksonville. • • • Mrs. Vera Costello and children and Miss Shirley Johnson spent last week at Surf City. • • • Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Mat tocks and children of Belgrade were Saturday dinner guests of his parents, Mr. and .kjrs. B. L. Mat tocks. * * * Mir. and Mrs. Harold Mattocks and daughter, Ellen, were over night visitors of her mother, Mrs. Walter Scott, near New Bern. • • • Earl Collins was her recently from Georgia visiting relatives and friends. • « • Miss Mary Lynn Maides of Hopewell community visited friends here last week. i Mr. and Mr&. Dan Wood, form erly of the Hopewell community are new residents of Maysville. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Jere Whiter Pel letier and children have returned from a vacation in the mountains. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Jones and girls and Mr. and Mrs. Etheridge Jones and boys were visitors in New Bern last Sunday. • • • Mrs. C. L. Morgan and children, Shirley, Barbara and Kent, were visitors at Williamsburg, Va. last weekend. • • • Recently visiting Mr. and Mrs. Levi Cannon was Bruce Cannon of Kinston. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hartsell and children have left for California following a visit of several weeks here with her family. • • • Mark Downing of Jacksonville is spending some time here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Creech. Joe Vick of Franklin, Va. it spending a few weeks here with his sister, Mrs. Bill Gasperson, and her ! family. • • • Here from Fayetteville for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Mack Meadows was the H a r ry Blanton family. Their son, Edward, of Raleigh is now home for a few days. • • • The new pastor of the Memorial Baptist church, Rev. Avery Lums den and his family have arrived here from Rockingham. • • • Mrs. A. H. McDaniel had vis iting her last week from Charlotte her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Moline, 111. residents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Collins and children, Dan, Sonny, Joyce and Steve, were here recently visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Collins. Some of the time they spent at the Collins cottage at Swansboro. • • • Walter Greslham of Beulaville was a recent guest of Mrs. L. L. Mattocks. Visiting here Sunday was her son, Lynn Jr., of Jack sonville. Thursday she left to spend a few weeks with him. Mrs. Patricia Manning left last week for Pennsylvania to join her husband, Edward. • • • Cpl. and Mrs. Wlayman Whet sell left Thursday for Albany, Ga. Where he is stationed with the Mamie Corps. The J. C. Foscues have visiting them for several days, their daugh ter Mrs. John Williams of Fort Lee, N. J. His sister, Ethelyn, o£ Trenton was also here for a few days. Recently Mrs. Foscue join ed relatives, Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Falgout, of Kaplan, La. at Wrights ville for a visit. Mrs. C. C. Dameron and Miss Yetta Brock were Kinston visitors last week. Sunday Mrs. Damerorl had as supper guests the Albert Tyndall family of Belgrade. Mrs. A. C. Bass has been spending some time in Saratoga with her daughter and son-in-law, the W. D. Bryants. Visiting Mrs. N. N. Mattocks during last weekend were her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Mewborn, and boys, Robert and Noland, of Snow Hill. Returning home with them after spending some time with his grand mother was their other son, George.
