Parker presented a very interesting program on birds at the recent meeting of the Greer Leaf Garden Gub which was held "in the home of Mrs. Robert Mat tocks. Tf> add to the interest of the program^ Mrs. Parker used a min iature tree with several artificial "birds which she discussed. She showed colored pictures oi each bird described gave its char acteristics and played a record oi various calls of the birds in this locality. The need for caring for the birds it this time of the year was stress •ed. G. Foscue; historian-librarian, Mrs. E. H. Bryant. Mrs. Mattocks will serve again as president. Mrs. A. H. McDaniel as treas urer and Mrs L. L. Parker as pub licity chairman. Other offices will be filled by Mrs. Mattocks by April. She asked each member to plant a dogwood tree and a crepe myrtle as part of their work in beautifying the toyn. Their new project is placing African Violets in the lob by of the new post office. Flower arrangements were pre pared by Mrs- W. E. Raiford, Mrs, * Sam ^Pruitt and lMrs. Starling 'Pelletier. r „ Mrs. Mattocks and her co-host ess, Mrs. J. C. Foscue, served * cream cheese cherry pie and cof fee. Mattocks Hostess to Circle The Lillian Foscue Circle met Monday afternoon with Mrs. N. Mrs. Robert Mattocks 'Hostess for Bridge The local bridge dub met wilh Mrs. Robert Mattocks Wednesday js| evening with two tables in play. ■Cherry pile, ice cream and cof fee were served to Mesdames Fan nie Foscue, Annie Pruitt, Kay. Mrs. Mattocks opened the pro A gram with prayer after which a conversational program, “Around the Rim of Fast Asia,” was pres ented by Mesdames C C. Darner on, J. R. BMletier and J. An affirmation of faith was read in unison and routine business was transacted. - -! The concluding prayer was offer ed by Mrs. Albert Jones and the hostess served cake, ice-cream and coffee. Fellowship Circle 0 < Meets Monday Night Using the same subject, Mrs Robert Mattocks, Mrs. Sam Pruitt and Mrs. Leonard Thompson pres ented the program at the Monday night meeting of the Fellowship Circle which was held in the social room of the church. Mrs. Sam Wuitt offered the op ening prayer; Mrs. Thompson the closing prayer. A discussion period followed. During the business session the jadies decided to hold a bailee sale March 16th. Deeds were reported and following the benediction, re freshments were served. PERSONALS Here for a weekend visit with Mr. and Mrs.. Robert Mattocks and the J. R. Gerocks were Mr. and Mrs. Whiter Geroek of Alex andria, Va. The . Mattocks son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Carol, of Wallace were also here visiting Sunday. , , • • • • Mrs. N. N.
