Let us assume that a psychologist

cides that the best way to find out
what Americans are really like is
to study their television commer
cials.
Come-now, that isn’t so fantastic.
Psyschologists right here at home
have wilder ideas all die time.
This foreign and far-out psych
ologist arranges to receive tapes of
many hours of American television
commercials. He studies them.
Then, having reached his conclu
sions, he calls a press conference
to explain to his own people, who
know1 nothing about Americans'
what Americans are really-like.
The text of the‘ press conference
follows.
Q—Well, doctor,- what are Am
ericans really like ? . <
A — They are a lively people
given to singing at the drop of a
hat, smiling almost constantly and
talking too loud. This is remark
able when you consider that Amer
icans are plagued by an almost ov
erwhelming national problem —
headaches.
