'rfji The report said North Carolina’s “proportionate share” of United Agricultural exports in 1962 was a bout $217.7 milioti. - Tobacco, of course, accounted for •die lion’s share of N. C. farm ex ports : $170 million or 78 per cent of the total N. C. farm exports. Cot ton exports amounted to $22.2 mil lion, or about 10 per cent of the : total. In other words, tobacco and cot ton accounted for about 88 per cent of the farm exports moving from the Tar Heel state. North Carolina’s share of other U. S. farm exports was relatively small. They included • corn, $4.8 million; wheat, $7.2 million; soy beans, $5 million; poultry, $4.7 mil lion ; peanuts, $1.4 million and fruits and vegetables ,$2 mijlion.
