Now is a good time to check your
landscape and plant trees that will
blend, harmoniously, with the sur
roundings.
Right now I a111 having my annual
battle with leaves. However, this
is only temporary -because I am
dutifully taking them up and earry
ing them to the Compost pile where
they will work for me later on. If
they are left in the street they clog
the drains when floated in by heavy
rains. If too many are shredded with
a rotary mower on the. grass, you
may have trouble.
Perhaps a list of some of the
more desirable trees will be helpful
to you in making selections. First
the small fowering trees: dogwood,
sourwood, crapemyrtle, flowering
crabapples (there are many kinds to
select from), serviceberry, Japanese
cherries, sweet bay, goldenchain
tree, mimosa (only wilt resistant
sorts), white fringe tree, American
mountain ash, saucer magnolia, A
merican holly, flowering plum. '
