Clover 4-H Club Meets Monday Night With Mrs. Bruce Foy The Clover 4-H dab held its’ regular meeting Monday night at the home of Mrs. Bruce Foy. Don Phillips, president, presided. Pledges were given by Joan Hay and Jackie Eubanks and Kathy Stilley, the devotion. Demonstra tions were given by Sharon Hask ins on “How to Hang Pictures’'! and Mrs. W. W. Lowery on “4-H Record Keeping.” Project reports by Rhoda Stilley! on "The Correct • Way to Wash Dishes” and Annette Lowery on “Safety.” '. • - ■. Mrs. Fay tie Gray, Home Eco nomics Agent, explained the Civil Defence program and the group voted to take this as a project. Automobile tags were distributed to be sold as a project for the County Council. The March meet ing will be held at the home of Mrs. Water Ives. Workshop Held Last Week in Ag Building On January 29, in the Agricul ture Building, Miss Charlotte Womble, Housing Specialist from We've really had some excite ment in basketball latey. Our gam es with Richlands last Tuesday night were about, as close as they come. At the end of the first quarter of the girl’s game, our girls led by 4 points. However, when half-time rolled around, the score was tied 13-13. By the end of the third quarter, Richlands had picked up 3 points to lead by is scpre of 23-20. Late in the f<$jfc*8P quarter, the score was again tied. With 14 seconds to go, Wilson sank one to give the Rockettes a 2-point lead and to win the game- Black and Dillahunt were high scorers for Jones Cen tral. Black had 13 points and Dill ahunt had itt In the boys game, there was quite a bit of excitement. The game en<J ed in a tie. A 3-minute overtime was called for after Mercer sank a field goal with 47 seconds to go. Going into the overtime, the score was tied 43-43. Richlands scored, and Booth and Mercer scored for the Rockets. The score was then 46-45 in favor of Jones Central. With 23 seconds to go, Richlands again scored to take the lead. Turner than scored for the Rockets with 10 seconds to go. This mad{;<the score 47-46 in favor of the JG. Squad. ; But Richlands wasn’t going to give up without a fight. With 2 seconds remaining, they again scored to win the game by a score of 48-47. Davis, Yates, and Booth led the scoring action for JC. Dat vis had 14 points and Yates and Booth each scored 9. In our games last Friday night with Wallace-Rose Hill, our girls were defeated by a score of 30-25 in a hard-fought game. Our boys game was cose, but in the end we were defeated by a score of 60-47. Davis was high-scorer with 20 points. I’d like to say a little about our FHA initiation, but I hardly know where to begin. The upperclassmen really kept the Freshmen hopping I I think, though, (that £he pnjze should go ot Jackie Potter and Sha ron Mateja. They had Mary Ann . Training School for Home Club Officers Held Last Thursday A Home Demonstration Club Officers training school was held last Thursday in the Jones County Agriculture Building. A demonstration on Parlimentary Procedure was given by Mrs. Fay tie Gray, Home Economics Agent. The group of 28 members then divided; into sections. The Presi dents and vice-presidents wers. trained by Mrs. W. W. Lowery, Mrs. Robert Cox trained the sec retaries and Mrs. S. D. Mallard instructed the Treasurer. Mrs. Nelson Banks, Mrs. Thomas Humphrey, Mrs. Dewey Jenkins and Mrs. Clyde Baltics explained several parts of the Club Hand book. PERSONALS Elaine Croom, a student at EEC, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Croom, during the weekend. Mrs. Donald Clark and son, of Jacksonville visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Avery, Thursday.
