Mr*. Nolan Jones School on Missions Held Last Week by Memorial Baptists Memorial Baptist Church con ducted its School of Missions Mon day through Friday of last week, meeting each evening at 7:15. Classes were held first in the ed ucational building; Teaching were: Nursery — Mrs. Avery Lumsden, Beginners and Primary — Miss Janie Henderson, Juniors — Mrs. E. H. Bryant, Intermediates—Mrs. Charles Hughes, Young People — Mrs. W. E. Henderson and Adults — Rev. Avery Lumsden. Immediately following classes each evening, the groups gathered in the sanctuary for missionary ad dresses: Speakers were: Sunday — Mr. Durrett on Home Missions, Mon day — Miss Wells on Foreign Mis sions, Tuesday — Miss Hobbs on Home Missions, Wednesday, Mr. Horton on State Missions, Thurs day, Mr. Mauney on Stewardship, and Friday, Mr. Hooper on Foreign Missions. Valentine Supper Held Last Friday at Maysville’s School A Valentine supper was given Friday evening at the Maysville Elementary School, sponsored by the PTA. The meal, served in the new caf eteria, began at 6. Nearly 100 per sons were present to enjoy the buffet style supper with a wide as sortment of meats, vegetables, des serts, coffee and soft drinks. Immediately afterwards,- - bingo was played across the hall and in the auditorium, there was dancing for the young and later, for the adults also. The fun lasted until 10 and pro ceeds amount to approximately $165 which will be used to help pay for new lunch room equipment. ‘Sweetheart Banquet’ Held on Saturday by First Baptist Church The social room of the First Baptist Church was the scene of the Sweetheart Banquet for the Girls Intermediate Sunday School class and invited guests Saturday evening at 7:00. A Valentine motif using red and white colors was used. Tables were covered in white and red candles in crystal, surrounded with red and white, were placed in the center of each table. The menu consisted of baked ham, string beans, potato salad, fruit salad, hot rolls, tea and Val entine cake. Those present were: Wanda Evans, Sudie Batchelor, Doris Ev ans, Beulah Collins, Janice Gibson, Peggy Quick, Judy Carroway, Shir ley Collins, Libby King, Ronnie Conway, Larry Jarman, Alton Mea dows, Robert Evans, Jerry Conway of Trenton and teacher, Miss Rosa Collins. \ Rev. and Mrs. Gibson Honored by Supper On 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Zane Horrell enter tained the pastor of the First Bap tist church and his wife, Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Gibson, at their home Saturday evening on the occasion of their twenty fifth wedding an niversary. Present were the deacons of the church and their wives and includ ed: Mr. and Mrs. Jason Cumbo, Mr. and Mre. Ray C. Banks Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Stacey Batchelor. Upon arrival, Mrs. Gibson was presented with a red camelia cor sage and the entire group present ed the honored couple with a silver fruit bowl. The evening meal consisted of baked ham, green peas,; candied yams, beets, tossed salad, pickles, celery hearts, french rolls, angel food cake, ice cream with orange sauce and ice tea. PERSONALS Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robert Brown from Kinston. * * * Here recently to visit Mrs. A. H. I McDaniel was her son, Julian, of Thomasville. She returned with him for a visit and, later, to visit other children. * * * Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jere Ru fus Pelletier of Jacksonville were here to visit his mother, Mrs. J. R. Pelletier, who has just returned home from a lengthy visit in Flor ida with relatives. * * * Spending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mattocks and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. C. Tuesday, February 25 at 2 P. M. CREAGH Well, we have only one basketball game left before the Conference. Last Friday night we played at North Duplin. This Friday night we play our Homecoming game with Burgaw. We hope for a big crowd at this, our final game. Our Mon ogram Sweetheart will also be crowned on this night. Sweetheart candidate of your choice. The Kappa Gammas traveled to Greenville last Thursday night to see the stage production of “West Side Story” in McGinnis Auditor ium at East Carolina College. The group thoroughly enjoyed the pres entation. The East Carolina Drama Department seems to have a bright future.
