Nolan J Sunday School Teachers Meet Students* Parents Sunday evening at 7:30, t Methodist Sunday School ers of Nursery, Kindergarten, ementary 1-2, Elementary 3-4, Elementary 5-6 classes met with parents in the sanctuary of the church to discuss and introduce to them the new type of literature that will be used beginning in Sep tember in Sunday School. Miss Jackie Jones presided, giv ing scripture readings, followed by prayer. She explained briefly the purpose of the meeting and hdw the new program is to be carried out. The teachers then met in their Sunday School rooms with parents* and showed them the type .of lit erature that is to be used and ex plained more fully how they are to participate in this new progratfa. Afterwards, refreshments of punch and cookies were served in the social room. $ Mrs. J. R. Pelletier Hostess to Circle Mrs. J. R. Pelletier was hostess to the Methodist Lillian Foscue Circle last Tuesday afternoon. After opening with the hymn “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord”. Mrs. A. H. McDaniel gave the devotion al with scriptures selected from Ro mans 10. Afterwards, she' read a1 prayer. Mrs. Pelletier, assisted by Mrs. J. H. Wynn and Mrs. I. F. House presented the program, using the subject, “The . Methodist Family.” Mrs. Pelletier read a hymn and a question and answer period per taining to the program was con ducted. Routine business was transacted, deeds were reported and, following the benediction, the hostess served ice cream. Others present were Mesdames Zena Foscue, C C. Dameron and one visitor, Mrs. Ed die Dunbar. Ira Meadows Honored On 60th Birthday Ira Meadows of Hopewell was honored on his 60th birthday at a surprise birthday dinner given him by his wife at the home of his son and daughter-in-lavift Mr. and Mrs. Everett Meadow* of Mr. and Mrs, Thetb'ert Dudley, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Collins and chil dren, Bottby Riggs of Hopewfll, Mi*, and Mrs. Robert Earl Pollock of White Oak, Mrs. Evelyn John son and her mother-in-law, of New Bern, Betty Canady of Pollocks ville and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Riggs, Aubrey .Morgan, Mrs. Alice Mea dows and Gail Melville, of Mays ville. Mr. Meadows received sev eral nice gifts. PERSONALS Larry Thompson is visiting rel atives in Whiteville. , # * * Mrs. J. T. Their daughter and son-in-law from Hubert, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips and son came to visit them while here.
