The game last Friday night against Richlands was an exciting one even though the final score was 0-0. Jones Central scored two touchdowns which were “called back,” and Richlands scored' one touchdown which was called back. Most of us at JC were happy with the outcome of the game. This Friday night (Sept 11) the Rockets will meet Swansboro at Jones Central. Our boys need and want our support and we’re hoping that as many as possible will come to the game. I would like to formally welcome our new principal, Mr. Jeter Tay lor Jr. to Jones Central. We at JC feel fortunate in having Mr. Taylor, and we feel that he will be a great asset to our school. He has many progressive ideas con cerning Jones Central, and we be lieve that he has a deep concern for the school and the students. It it my pleasure, then, to welcome Mr. Taylor and to extend to him and his family my very best wish es. The smiling fisherman above is Floyd Gray of the Wheat Swamp Community who really hit a hot fishing hole on Labor Day near, his summer home on Cape Carteret. The be'autiful string of speckled trout shown here, appropriately: enough, came out of Trout Creek, between Cedar Point and the Coast Guard station. And they’re just as tasty as -they are pretty. Gray brought us a beautiful pair, which were deliciously prepared and enthusiastically consumed. other editors say " ” THE WASHINGTON POST A Threat To Status An important sociological devel opment has been annouced in Eng land. It seems the common man wasn’t coming to the Rolls-Royce fast enough, so the Rolls-Royce is coming to the common man. For a mere £2000 ($5,600), Englishmen are now able to buy a luxury car called the Vanden Plas Princess R. The R., standing for Rolls, Royce or both, means a powerful six cylinder engine built by the fam ous firm that goes in a sedan body built by the British Motor Corpor ation. A car with a Rolls engine in every garage would certainly be a landmark in the “Great Society,” but if the advertisements are cor rect, we would soon be- gliding down the highway cursing our noisy dashboard clocks rather than knocking pistons or excess oil con sumption. NOW ITS SGT. GAY Leslie D. Gay, 21, whose wife, Betty, lives on Route 1, Dover, was promoted to sergeant Aug. 22 while serving with the 7th Infantry Div ision in Korea.
