Both Jones and Lenoir county gave lopsided margins for the state school bond issue of $100, 000,000. The allocation of . the state bond issue to Jones County is $280,512.72. The Kinston City School System will pet $551, 823.31 and the Lenoir County System will pet $759,845.94. In Lenoir County where ap proval for a five-cent tax levy and $150,000 appropriation was on the ballot to provide expan sion fundsfora community col lege this gained the same easy kind of victory. In Jones County there was no county office contested by Re publicans but in the race for head City. Lenoir County had Republican competition for t h e board of county commissioners , and for the county’s seat in the general assembly. To say that the Re publican opposition was of a tok en nature is to put it mildly. Former Kinston Mayor Guy Elliott, the Democratic legisla tive nominee, clobbered Repub lican Nominee,'>$foyles Sewell and the five Democratic nomi ness for the board of county commissioners zoomed by the two Republican^ John Camer on and A. M. Sparrow, without having to use their passing gears. The Democratic nominees who take office on the first Monday in December are Cameron Langston, Luby Edwards, Billy Brewer, Dick Whaley and Dan Lilley.
