Dear Editor:
FBI Director Hoover recently
warned that, “America today is
in a deadly struggle for sur
vival of the free world” and
stated that while our nation is
fighting the strangling grip of
international Communism
abroad, attempts are made at
home to undermine and dis
tort its actions.
Mr. Hoover stated* that pres
sure and criticism are being di
rected against the President and
Congress to confuse and mis
lead the American public and
that irresponsible charges of “in
vaders,” “brutal aggression”
and “sneak attacks” are used
to discredit our government to
force it to abandon its role as
a defender of freedom. Some of
this criticism stems from legi
timate peace groups and others
opposed to our action in Viet
nam and the Dominican Repub
lic, but much of it is part of a
diabolical scheme developed by
the Communist Party, USA, and
integral arm of the internation
al Communist conspiracy, a pa
ternalistic, godless ideology ded
icated to ruling the world.
The CPUSA and other Com
munist groups are promoting
their cause by false statments
and half truths. The Party is
trying to influence the v youth
of our country through the Com
munist controlled DuBois Clubs
of America.
The Party is working through
non-Communist groups and
front organizations to disrupt the'
efforts of our government. Com
munist leaders are trying to
start new marches and demon
strations to keep alive their
campaign of fear and terror.
THEY ARE PLOTTING SOME
TYPE OF NATIONWIDE AC
TION SIMILAR TO “PEACE”
STRIKES OR WORK STOP
PAGES. (Emphasis mine).
Party leaders hope that more
Americans will be duped and
misled by these tactics and that
a wave of hostility Against our
policies abroad' will develop* fiiij
minating in a demand for our
forces to be withdrawn and h
resulting Communist victory.
Mr. Hoover concluded that
the strength of our nation lies
in those citizens who will not
fall ofr this Communist bait.
Sincerely,
J. C. Peele, M.D.
