i Homecoming Jen** Cwitral High School's annual- homecoming celebra tion it set for Friday. The event begins with a barbecue pork or .barbecue chicken sup per from five until seven in the school cafeteria. Pies and cakes will also be available by the slice at the supper. The football - game , between the Jones Central Rockets and Bur gaw High's eleven will begin at eight o'clock and Miss Rock et of 1965 will be crowned at half-time. Jones Central's Library Club has Interesting lAeet The Jones Central library Club , held its regular monthly meeting on October 26 in the school library. Sandra Find eisen, president of the club, presided. Billy Harrison gave the devotion, and Vedys Black gave a report on the candy sale and on the sale of paper back books. Lib McDaniel, Chairman of the Scrapbook Committee, gave a report and reminded the members to be thinking about a title for the scrapbook which will be enteredin state competi tion. Betty Becton gave a re port for tne publicity commit tee on the plans of the club for National Book Week. The group chose Tommy Johnson to run for District Pres dent at a meeting to be held on November 13. Ella Haw kins and Billy Harrison were named his campaign managers. Mrs. Mary Thomas announced (that the group would be in charge of the program at the district meeting and that the program would be on audio vis uals. Betty Becton was chosen to represent the club in the home coming election. The motion was made to purchase flowers for her. Tommy Johnson gave a pro gram which consisted of sever al demonstrations. Rebecca Mc Ghee gave a demonstration on mending the corners and spine of a book. Vedys Black gave a demonstration on reassembling an old book; and Gail Scott gave a demonstration on let tering and finishing a book. The meeting was adjourned for refreshments which were served by Rebecca McGhee and Vedys Black. 4-H Notes The Clover 4-H Club held its regular meeting and a Hal loween Party Saturday night in !in the Ag. Building in Trenton. ; The meeting began with a .picnic supper, followed by a business session with President Jack Eubanks presiding. ; For the program Annette ;Lowery gave a demonstration ;on “Electric Safety.” The group congratulated Janice Lowery on being a State Win ner in the Home Economics Project. Don Howard and Terry Koonce were welcomed as new mem bers. The group then enjoyed dancing and games. Quite a number were dressed in cos tunes for the occasion and prizes, were awarded to the winners in the different games. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Franck1 and children, Mr. and Mrs, Ernest Barns, Mrs. Faytie Gray and children and Carlton Ipock. Ap proximately 60 attended. Melville Broughton Jr. Stated that Mallard will be responsible for co - ordinating Democratic Youth activities between the County and State Headquart ers. He will assist Party, offi cials with registration drives, fund raising events, precinct work and recruiting and enlist ing young voters into the Demo cratic Party." Not Guilty Verdict In Morals Charge r Tuesday a Lenoir County jury, found Fred Lee Tucker not guil ty of having carnal knowledge of a child over 12 but under 16 years of age. Kinston Has 40 Wrecks in October The Kinston Police Depart ment traffic division investiga ted. 40 accidents during Octob er. Iji these 17 persons were in jured and an estimated $15,520 damage was done to the involv ed'vehicles. The division made 56 indict tfnents during the month, includ ing 23 from the 40 accidents .and 33 for speeding. Eight of the 40 accidents in volved parked , cars and two in -Vcjvedibicycles.
