? by Mrs. Nolan Jones Memorial Baptists Holds Study Series A study of the WMU Graded Missions Service was held in Memorial Baptist Church at Maysville December 5 at 5:30 P. M. Using as their subject, “World Awareness Night,” five age graded classes were conducted on Foreign Missions. Teaching were: Mrs, E. J. Hines, Adult; Miss Charlotte Huffman and Don Morgan, > Young People; Mrs. E. H. Bry ant, Intermediates; Mrs. Avery Lumsden, Juniors; and Mrs. Charles Hughes, Beginners and Primaries. In addition to text book study periods, a fellowship supper and worship period was observed. Film strips and tape recordings were used to increase the effec tiveness of this program. Fifty six persons attended. Firemen Make Plans For Christmas Party Approximately 15 firemen met at the community building Mon day evening to complete plans for their annual Christmas par ty. Several committees were named to make plans for the evening meal. The party will be held Sat urday evening. The firemen and their wives will prepare the meal and decorations will be done by the Greenleaf Garden "Club. Dancing will follow the meal. CHRISTMAS PARTY The annual Christmas dinner, sponsored by the Greenleaf Garden Club, the Rotary Club and the Home Demonstration Club will be held at the com munity building Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7:30. PERSONALS The Leonard Thompson fam ily spent the weekend with rel atives in South Carolina. • * • JMr. and Mrs. Roland Nelson, Debra and Suzanne of Ports mouth, Va. were weekend visi tors of his parents, Mr. and Mrs, A. W. Nelson. • • • Cpl. and Mrs. Jimmy Wright made a trip to Charlotte dur ing the weekend to visit rela tives. They took with them Mrs. Wright’s mother, Mrs. Edna Dribelbis, who had been visit ing them from Pennsylvania. She remained there to visit. • • • Mrs. Virgil Jenkins visited her parents in Rocky Mount Wednesday night and Thursday and enroute home, stopped in Wilson to visit Mr. and Mrs. Garland Smith. • • * Mrs. Marvin Mineheart and girls were in Washington dur ing the weekend visiting her mother and sister. • • • t Mr. and Mrs. James Heath of New Bern were Sunday visitors of Mrs. A. G. Heath. • • • Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morris were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Salter and Mr. and State Releases 31 Varieties Tobacco For Planting in 1966 Crop Year Thirty - one varieties of flue cured tobacco seed have been approved for sale in North Carolina for the next planting season. Agriculture Commissioner James A. Graham announced the recording after receiving the recommendation of the To bacco Seed Committee that 15 growers, producing one or more of these varieties, be granted approval to merchandise these seeds in North Carolina. The Seed Law requires the re cording of varieties by tobacco seed producers as a prerequisite to lawful sale. This recording does not constitute a recommen dation of any one variety in preference to another. Its func tion is to insure correct variety labeling of tobacco seeds offer ed for sale. Samples for these varieties will be grown in a va riety conformation program, in cooperation with the N. C. Ag ricultural Experiment Station. The recordings include one new variety, Speights G-7, as approved by the Regional Flue cured Tobacco Advisory Com Kinston, County Underwriting Water System for Blendspun's New Plant Monday night the Kinston City Council confirmed its support of a negotiated agreement in volving the city, the county and Blendspun Corporation for con struction of a water system to serve this new company’s new plant three miles east of Kins ton. The city council and county commissioners have agreed to spend up to $25,000 each from their respective treasuries to drill a deep well, install a pump, and a storage tank. There were reports that the total cost of the project might not run as high as $50,000. Under the agreement which was reached on September 21st with officials of the company the money spent from city and coun Renew Your Subscription ty sources will be refunded to them under a lease - purchase arrangement over a 10 - year period. The lease figure has not been agreed upon since it will not be known until the installation is completed. Originally the company had agreed to buy both water and electricity fi om the City of Kinston but now it is under stood that it will buy power from Carolina Power and Light Company, and may possibly buy the water installation as soon as the plant goes into opera tion.
