Kinston School Board Surrenders To Fed's Blackmail Monday night the Kinston Board after a month of postur ing knuckled under to the or ders of Federal Commissar of Education Harold Howe and sign ed an order accepting all the commissar has ordered so far and any thing he may order in the future in the realm of pub lic school racial integration. The school board listed several reasons for its surrender, but failed to mention the principal reason: The blackmail in the form of money that the feds have collected from this area and are now retuming-in driblets. Having accepted this bowl of federal pottage the local schools and all others across the nation can find no way to unscramble the education egg. Since this is an election year congressional spokesmen in this area have been assured that the real pressure will not be applied until the 1967-68 school year and that the local system will not have to mix their faculties rac ially and maintain a stipulated percentage of negroes in white schools and whites in negro schools until the 1967-68 school year.
