"jjiV' Efforts of Several at Brock Millpond §§ Jesse Wilson, 61, of Trenton was rescued from certain drown ing Saturday evening about six o’clock when Vance Eubanks and Guy Kinsey Jr. fulled him out of the Trenton Mill Pond in to which he had fallen from his boat. According to his wife, Hazel, Wilson 'had rowed across the mill pond to an island near the opposite shore to look at some flowers growing there and was on his way back when he began to get weak and nervous and fell out of the'boat. Wilson’s wife ,aware of his plight, rushed up-street to “Junior” Haddock’s service sta tion for help. Harold Stilley and Hughes Eubanks went back to the Mill Pond to investigate. Wilson’s son-in-law, Ray “Teen ie” Shepherd, tried to swim out to Wilson’s assistance but could not reach him. At th‘ same time Wilson’s daughter 'Jean Shep herd went to the Donald Brock residence to get help: When Stilley and Eubanks ar rived at the mkl pohd each real ized that the other could not swim so Stilley hurried back up street to W. F. Hill’s service sta tion where he recruited the as sistance of Vance Eubanks, Guy Kinsey Jr., and Gary Jarman, who all swim. Vance Eubanks was the first swimmer to reach Wilson and he and Kinsey and Jarman held Wilson up until Donald Brock and Mrs. Shepherd arrived in a small skiff. The rescuers tried to get Wilson into the skiff but could not so they had him hold on the the small boat while they towed him ashore. Fred Foscue of the Trenton Rescue Squad administered arti ficial respiration until Dr. G. W. Davenport came onto the rescue scene and gave Wilson oxygen from a portable oxygen tank that Davenport carries in his car at all times in case of emergen cies. Nelson Barker and Billy Smith, also of the Rescue Squad, carried Wilson to Craven Coun ty Hospital in New Bern where he was admitted for observation. Wilson was released from the Hospital Tuesday and is ap parently in good condition. It is not known what caused Wilson to black out, but he is known to suffer occasionally from acute attacks of emphy sema. Conjecture has it that Wilson suffered a severe attack that made him unconscious. Wil son says that he does not re member being rescued or taken to New Befn. It is fortunate for Wilson that Vance Eubanks and Guy Kinsey Jr. were available for assistance when their particular skills were needed.
