Unopposed Kinston Mayor & mon Sitterson gpt 1915 votes* Political Newcomer Jesse Ogles by led the aldermanic ticket with 1674 and Incumbent Jim Ward was elected to his second four year term on the city council. “Lonesome Republican” Ca bell Ramsey made his debut in municipal politics after spending bis salad days fighting the hard poltical battles of Jayoeedom. Ramsey ran last in a fields of three, but his vote was a flat tering 1148, which was enough to scare Democrats and excite minority Republicans. It was all peace in the Pink Hill political valley with just 43, Pink Hflibms bothering to mark ballots since Mayor Carl Ward and Aldermen Wilbur Tyndall, Remus Teachey and Durwood Anderson were unopposed. But on Monday iu Grifton there was a hard fought upset polit ical battle that saw underdog Dave Bosley ’ trim Favorite George Saleeby by a thin 29-vote margin: 218 to 189. In the Grifton alderman race Alton Clements was elected with 314 votes and John Cox got the other council seat open with 215 votes. Also-rans included John Cameron at 139 and' Thom as Doe at 66. But the liveliest race of the week was reserved for “The Garden Spot” where 10 men were seeking the six seats on the La Grange Town Council. And when the smoke cleared away Tuesday night LaGrange had three new aldermen. Incumbent LaGrange Mayor Hal Williams was unopposed and got 248 votes from the 309 who went to the polls. Incumbent Alderman Charlie Jackson led the ticket with 276 votes, newcomer Jack Jones ran second with 209 votes, Incum bent Robert Aldridge ran third with 196 votes, Incumbent Ed. Memorial Fund for New Hospital for Mrs. Ann H. Capps The first memorial fund for the New Lenoir Memorial Hos pital has been established by the family and friends of the late Mrs. Ann Hood Capps.
