Another of the trio tried to flush the drug down A toilet but failed to dispose of it all in that manner and more was found in a later search of the trailer. Hashish is a greatly refined form of marijuana which can be either chewed, eaten or smok ed in a -pipe. The trio had pipes specially designed for using the material. All three were place under $50000 bond and the father of Jones showed up Monday morn ing at the sheriffs office with $5000 in cash to secure the re lease of his son until hearing which was set for 10 Tuesday morning. This is the first hashish that has been found in raids made in Lenoir County although offic ers have understood that there is a growing use Of it ip the area since it is so much strong er than ordinary marijuana, and those who uSe marijuana gen erally develop a desire for some thing stronger. Medically it is accepted that the next step up (or down) from harhish is heroin. PUSHERS BOUND OVER Two cashiered Marines, who claim New York City for home, were bound over to Lenoir Coun ty Superior Court under $5000 bond each on charge of pushing marijuana and heroin among teenagers in Kinston. Bright ran into the city garbage dump in Southeast Kin ston Saturday night. APPEALS JAIL TERM Kilby J. Barbee of Kinston route 3 appealed to Lenoir Coun ty Superiolr Court last Thurs day after being given six months in prison for his third drunken drivng offense, driving without a license, driving an uninsured car upon which there was no license tag. Kinston Schools Get $101,288 from 'Pacifier Fund" of Federal Tax Money A total of $6,446,476 in federal funds has been received by 80 of the 152 administrative units of the state’s public school sys tems since the program began in September. The Emergency School Assis tance Program — Title IV — was requested by President Rich ard Nixon and approved by Con gress earlier ths year. The funds are to be used to assist school units in carrying out their de segregation program. The Kinston School System has gotten $101,288 from this fund.
