All members are urged to attenL WOMAN'S CIVIL CLUB TO HAVE THEIR INITIAL MEET The Woman’s Civic Club will hold its initial meeting of the club year at 7:30 P. M., Monday, September 11, at the Lions’ Club Building on South Main Street. The president, Mrs. Clyde L. Loftin, will conduct the business session, which will deal largely with committee assignments and plans for the club’s work this year. Members of the executive board will serve refreshments at the conclusion of the meeting. All women in the community who are interested in civic work are cordially invited to attend this meeting and join the department of their choice, these with their chairmen being listed below. MRS. W. J. SPRINGS, JR. Mn. William Junius Springs,'Jr. is the former MIm Helen Nonis Ninety Six, S. C. She was married to Mr. Springs August 19 &t Paul's Methodist Church in Ninety Six. Mr. Springs is the son of Mrs. W. J. Springs and the late Dr. springs of Mount Holly. He is at presept employed at Sandy Cbemi-J Works. Inc. in Chariotte. The couple are reriding in Mo«^ H^W J. A. During the game the hostess served punch and salted nuts, and after cards were laid aside a salad course with accessories. When scores were tallied Miss Topsey Dimn was found to be high scorer, with Mrs. Bob Cook winning low, Mrs. Gordm Eaves the bingo award and Mrs. Harry M. Thompson, Sr. of Belmont the floating prize. Sloan of Cedartown, Ga. spent the week end here with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Moore at their home onthe Mountain Island Road. FRED HOWARD WAS HONORED SUNDAY Mrs. Fred Howard of Manassas, Va. spent the week-end here with her brother-in-law, V. A. Howard and Mrs. Howard, enroute to visit her son and his family in Jack sonville, Fla. On Sunday the Howards entertained at a picnic- style family dinner party in her honor.
