FOMnftDIOS ARE
MUCH IMPROVED
Invisible Speaker is Mounted
Above the Windshield- Set is
Six Tubes.
With the current year’s produc
tion totaling close to a quarter of
a million sets, the Ford Motor Com
pany announces numerous improve
ments to the 1936 Ford radio, which
is good news for those who expect
to put in a car radio as a New Year
present to the family.
From the standpoint of appear
ance, the most important change is
the adoption of an invisible speak
er, mounted above the windshield.
The sloping of ear-level reception.
The set continues to be of six
tubes, but with a number of chassis
The chassis case has
been shortened and made more com
pact, fitting underneath the instru
ment panel and above the steering
colmn.
Sensitivity of the Ford radio has
been increased and its internal cir
cuit filtering has been improved to
keep out external interference, such
as that from high tension wires ond
street cars. For the city driver, es
pecially, reception now is excellent.
The speaker is of a new design
mounted flush o nthe header bar
above the windshield. When install
ed it is completely out of sight,
covered by the car trim. The speak
er cone has been re-designed to in
sure improved reception throughout
the scale, including high notes and
bass notes. Instead of having a three
point tone control, a constantly
variable tone control is now used.
It is expected that in 1936 the
volume of Ford radios will be ma
terially increased owing to the fact
that every day more and more
motorists' are turning to the use of
car radios.

The little chart at the left tells a pleasant story —a
steady drop, drop, drop in the average cost of
domestic electricity. Other living prices have
climbed high, gone down, now are on their way up
again. But that most helpful of all modem neces
sities—electricity—has gone merrily downward, is
cheaper now than ever.
Alow! ANOTHER ELECTRIC RATE CUT
Our newest reductions —effective immediately—
bring the boon of bargain electricity to the smallest
homes. Now everybody can enjoy more leisure
and more pleasure, thanks to cheap electric serv
ice. And the more you use, the more fun you have
in life—and the less it costs you per unit used.
