WADEMEN TOLD TO DISREGARD CLEMSON LOSS Scouts Attribute Tigers’ 32-0 Defeat by Alabama to “Jitters” There I Will be a Great Game at Duke on Saturday. Durham, N. C., Oct. 6 While Clemson’s defeat at the hands of Alabama would make one prone to disbelieve it, there will be a great football game in Duke stadium Sat urday when the Tigers come up to battle the Blue Devils. Despite their defeat, Duke scouts still say that Clqmson has a great ball club. They were amazed to learn the score of the Alabama game but attributed it to a case of “jitters” by the young members of the Clemson squad. There will be no “jitters”on the part of Clemson at Duke Saturday —there never has been—and the Wademen are getting things set for a terrific engagement. In Joe Berry, Mac Folger, A1 Sanders and Rudy Orban, the Tig ers have one of the finest backfields in the Southern conference. Manuel Black, husky left tackle, is a stal wart in the line and Woods, the sophomore center, has been likened to Gilbert of Auburn. The Tigers were easy for Ala bama but they won’t be easy for | Duke Saturday. While the Tigers work at Clem- j son, getting ready to defeat Duke 1 and keep their conference slate clear, the Blue Devils are trying to get their blocking assignments down better to help Ace Parker and Honey Hackney, who, in most cases this sepson, have had to do the run ning all by themselves. First, she sowed Spiritu ality. The spiritual are sympathetic, considerate and tender in dealing with the wayward. We need in our day more than we need anything a renewed emphasis on old-fash ioned conception of positive Chris tian character. Christ in us is our hope and glory. He is our surety of an abundant harvest. Then she) sowed Goodness “what soever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” We cannot sow tares and expect to reap wheat. There is an element of certain justice that runs through the whole of life. She was always willing to do something good for others. ground-gaining of the two great runners. Os course, one 78-yard run by Parker, one of the prettiest dashes ever made in this section, was called back to cut down Duke’s yardage. However, the Blue Devils must be praised for their defense. They held Colgate to 53 yards and they held South Carolina to 13. Their goal line has not been crossed. South Carolina had a first down on the one-foot line, but they whre thrown for a yard loss on the first play and then were so rushed that they fumbled and Tipton recovered for Duke on the next play. She sowed mercy. “He that soweth unto the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. Everlasting or eternal life is far more than the unlimited extension of life beyond the limits of time." It is a quality of life—spiritual life—that is begun here and shall never cease. As sure ly as Christ lives, so shall we live if our lives are centered in Him. There is no need, then, that we should become weary; for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. There is an angel of goodness that beckons us to a better life. Wo can fit ourselves into divine condi tions. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can adjust ourselves to the laws of God and to the laws of good men. Next came the time for her to sow the Fidelity. “Let us not be weary in well doing.” The first thing was for her to be engaged in well doing. The next thing was to presevere. Sh e was faithful and the time will come for hep: reaping, just as Christ tells us it will come. After sowing all these seed, then came the time for her to sow FeU lowship. “Especially toward them that are of the household of faith.” While our horizon is world-wide in its sweep, it must’ not, of course lose sight of those who are near and dear. Therefore, the tides of fra ternity will sweep graciously toward the household of faith on its mis sion of love of sowing and reaping applies in the fields of right and wrong. The amount she will reap may depend on the soil and care, but mostly on the seed. Grand mother is standing in line now wait ing to receive the harvest she sow ed. She sowed just the seed that she wanted to reap and what she will reap in Heaven. All during Grandmother’s life she was sending up materials to build a fine mansion, because she wanted a good place to spend eternity. She Successful People Save Money! SEE C. B.
