PARTIAL LIST OF NEEDY: FAMILIES IN PERSON COUNTY; More Groups Will Be Added By Sunday; 100 Families in All That Need Help At Christ mas Time You Are Asked To Take A Fam ily And Help Below is a partial list of the needy iirmilies in Person County. This list ■was released by Mrs. T. C. Wag staff, head of the welfare depart ment of Person County. In all there are 100 families. More groups will be added next Thursday. If you care to help a family go to Mrs. Wagstaff and tell her of your selection and she will give you the name and directions on how. to reach the home. Case No. 1 Rural family .(white) .of .7. Father, mother and five children, girls 4,6, 7, 8 and a boy of 12. Father has been ill for several months and will perhaps be perma nently disabled. Family needs clothing, food and would appreci ate toys. No income and no possible means of getting help of any kind unless public donations are made. Case No. 2 Family of 1 (white) woman is a patient at Sanatorium, N. C. and will be there indefinititely. Sug gestion—candy, a book, stationery and toilet articles, or any gift suit able for an invalid. Mrs. X. receiv es no help from relatives and will perhaps not be remembeited by ethers at Christmas. Case No. 3 Urban family (colored) Boys 7 and 4. The father of the children is erving a life sentence in the Feder al Penitentiary and the mother died about two months ago. At the pres ent time they are living with their grandmother who is not financially able to provide bare necessities. Children would appreciate any toys, fruits or clothing (old or new)). Case No. 4 Urban family (colored) woman 69, daughter 52 and 4 orphan child ren, girls 3 and 11, boys 6 and 14. Woman receives SB.OO per month from Old Age Assistance, but has no other income and this is in adequate to support the family. The daughter is an invalid and suf fers from epileptic fits. The family has been known to the Relief Agency sinoe 1932 and are life time residents of Roxboro. The daughter would appreciate any kind •f nourishing food and the child ren would like toys, fruits and candies. Case No. 5 White woman suffering with Tuberculosis. Would appreciate fruit, a bed jacket and toilet articles. Case No. 6 Rural family (colored) Mother and three children, a girl 5 yrs. a boy 3 yrs. and a boy 2 yrs. The children will have no Santa Claus unless someone provides toys and clothing for them. Case No. 7 Town Family (colored) Mother in hospital, has been sick for six weeks. Four children, girls 19, 5, 3 and 2 yrs. This family will have no Christnyas unless someone helps them. Food, clothes and toys would be appreciated. Case No. 8 Rural Family (colored) Mother and seven children, a boy 19 yrs., girl 15, girl 10, boy 8, boy 6, girl 5 and girl 2 yrs. This family is acute ly needy. Food, clothes and toys would help them have a fine Christmas. Case No. 9 Rural Family (colored) Mother and four children with no income at all. Children’s ages are , boy 14 boy 12, boy 7, girl 7, girl 2 years. Help this family have Christmas by providing clothes, food and toys. Case No. 10 Town Family (white) A mother and a little boy 6 years old. Mother not able to work and the little boy will have no Christmas unless some one provides it for him. Would like some fruit and canned soups. Case No. 12 Rural family (colored) mother and son 11 years old. Mother is crippled and unable to do any kind of work to support herself and | child. Food, clothes and toys would help this family have Christmas, which otherwise they would no have. Case No. 13 Rural family (colored) an old man, his wife and a seven year old boy. The little boy needs clothes and toys The old man and woman would appreciate food, fruit, ets. Case No. 14 Crippled colored man would ap preciate frqjt, nuts, candy and a necktie. Case No. 15 Rural family (colored) An old colored foman 80 years old and too feeble to do anything but sit by the fire. Would like some snuff and fruit to make her Christmas a hap py time. Case No. 16 Rural family (colored) An old colored woman 80 years old and too would appreciate some snuff, ffuit and sweet soap to help her have a happy Christmas. Case No. 17 Colored woman and small child deserted by father are looking for Santa Claus. Case No. 18 . .Town family (white) Mother and five children are living on the few cents the older boy picks up doing odd jobs. This income is not suf ficient to cover any kind of Christ mas cheer. Food and clothing would be very much appreciated by this family. Case No. 19 Rural (white) Widow with 3 girls, age 7, 10, & 11. Only income is amount earned selling tobacco and their crop was almost completely destroyed by hail this year. The children are well advanced in school for their ages. Gift suggest ions for the family—toys, books, clothing or fruits and candy. Mother has been approved for Aid to Dependent Children but has not received payment. Case No. 20 Rural Family (white) Mother 30, son 14 and daughters 1 and 4. Hus band has deserted and woman has no income except a very small wage earned working’ out as a day laborer. Another baby is expected soon and although she is not physic ally able to do this work necessity compels it. Aid for dependent child ren has not been granted. The father of the children is not in the state and the Welfare Agency has been unable to contact him. The family is very needy and probably will receive no gifts for Christmas unless outside help is given. Food, old or new clothing, toys or fruits and candy would be appreciated. Case No; 21 Urban family (white) Mother, who is a widow, and two children, girls 5 and 2. C. income of family is $4.00 or $5.00 per week, and this is inadequate to' pay for rent, fuel and food for the family. A Christmas basket or any toys suitable for the children would )e appreciated. Case No. 22 Rural (white) Non-family man, age 72. According to reports of res idents of the community Mr. X is one of the most needy and worthy citizens of Person County. His only income is the money he gets farm ing out as a day laborer and this work is much too hard for him. Clothing, food and any gift would be most acceptable. Case No. 23 Rural Family (white) Consists of mother, girls 17, 14, and 4 and a boy 11. The jmot3i:r Was deserted by her husband before the birth of her baby. Since that time she has sup ported her children by doing do jmestic { rvice for neighbors. She cooks, washes or accepts any em ployirpnt to earn money enough to buy food; Toys, books, old and new clothing, fruit and candy are gift suggestions. Case No. 24 Rural Family (white) Four liv ing in a tent. Mother is an invalid and one daughter (age 21) is feeb le minded, son is an employee of a mill which is temporarily closed. However, when he works regularly his income is far too small to fur nish bare necessities for his family. Girl 19 has applied for work relief but she has to stay at home and care for her mother and sister. Books, magazines, clothing or a basket of any kind would add to the happin ess of this family who will perhaps have no other reminder of the Christmas season. Case No. 25 Middle aged colored woman in ill health would like some snuff and dainties for Christmas. Case No. 26 Rural (white) An old man, alone in the world and with no perman ent home will have no Christmas unless someone provides a little to bacco, fruit or clothes Anything would be acceptable. Case No. 27 Rural (white) An old feeble white lady would appreciate fruit, candy or any gift suitable for an old wo man who stays at home a good bit. Case No. 28 Colored woman crippled from childhood, would be grateful for toi let articles, fruit, nuts and candy. Case No. 29 Rural (colored) An old colored woman 72 years old, with no rela tives will probably be forgotten this Christmas unless someone would be kind enough to provide a little snuff, fruit and sweet soap. Case No. 30 Rural (colored) An old colored man, has been paralyzed from the waist down for six years and has been bedridden. Books, candy, fruit or a warm bed jacket are gift sug gestons to help make this old man happy at Christmas. Case No. 31 Two feeble minded women need clothng and food. Case No. 32 Rural (colored) An old man 84 years old, his wife and three child ren, a girl 13, a girl 12 and a boy 7, are living on SB.OO a mpnth. There will be no Christmas in this home unless someonp provides it. Food, clothing, toys and household neces sities will all be acceptable. Case No. 33 Rural (colored) An folfl couple and their daughter will have no Christmas unless someone provid es some snuff, fruit and clothes, or anything which might be used by them. The couple is getting no aid of any kind from the Welfare Of fice. Case No. 34 White girl, about 25 years old, who has been an invalid since child hood would like some fruit, nuts, and candy, material for a dress. Some soft, white cloths, such as dis carded sheets, would also be ap preciated. Case No. 35 Rural (colored) An old man 73 years old, who lives completely a lone, will probably be forgotten this Christmas unless someone will remember him with some tobacco, fruit or food. Case No. 36 Rural (colored) An old woman, would appreciate a little snuff, fruit or soap to help make her Christmas happier. Case No. 37 White man, about thirty, who is a shut - in with tuberculosis. Would appreciate toilet articles, a book, magazines and some dainties. Case No. 38 Rural (whte) An old man who is sick and has absolutely no income, will have no Christmas unless some one will provide it for him. Tobac co, fruit, clothing, etc., will he very acceptable. Case No. 39 Rural (colored) This old colored man is a cripple and is hardly able to supply any Christmas for him self. Someone please send this old man some snuff, fruit or anything else appropriate. Case No. 40 Colored woman about thirty-five and unable to work because of de formity would enjoy dainties and gifts. Case No. 41 Rural (white) An old lady who is in poor health and her invalid daughter will b\ive no Christmas at all unless someone will be kind enough -to supply a little fruit or other articles. Case No. 42 Middle aged colored Woman in ill health would enjoy some snuff and fruit.
