Mrs. Eugenia Burton has re turned home following a visit of several weeks to her sons, Geor ge and Herman Burton at their homes in Rocky Mount. Mrs. J. E. Bass and daughter, Louie Marshall Satterfield, are visiting relatives here this week. Edgar Newton, of New York, has arrived to be with his mother, Mrs Bessie Newton, who is very ill. Dr. Robert E. Long and Dr. J. H. Hughes attended the state dental society in Durham this week. Mrs. B. B. Strum and son, Jackie, are spending the week in Apex with Mrs. Strum’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Beasley. Mrs. B. L. Jordan has return ed to her home in Farmville, Va., after spending the past week with Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Puckett. Miss Bessie Todd has entered the school of nursing at Duke university. The hotel dining-room was at tractively decorated for the fall season with red candles lighting the table. A delicious three-course dinner was served by the hotel staff. Dancing was enjoyed be tween courses and following the dinner.
