Mrs. Frank Williams returned to her home Friday after having been a patient at Gentry-Wil liams hospital here. Mrs. O. T. Kirby was return ed to the hospital here Thursday after having been released Wed nesday. She is said to have suf fered a relapse. E. E. Thomas was released from the local hospital Friday. He is reported as getting along fine. Miss Geraldine Spinks is spend ing the weekend in Raleigh with her parents. Newell was hostess to members of the Thursday Lit erary club at her home on South Main street. The guests were met at the door by Mrs. Lillian Foreman and dir ected to the living room. .In the dining room, where the guests were next invited, the Valentine motif was in evidence in all de corations. Merritt was delight ful hostess to members of the Friday Afternoon book club at Hotel Roxboro Friday afternoon from 4 until 6 o’clock. A delicious four course dinner was served at 6 o’clock to mem bers of the club and several in vited guests, which included Mes dames W. D. Brandon, Ruth Stephens, A. W. Clayton, H. L. Boys Hi-Y Club Meets Monday The Hi-Y club met and held its regular meeting in the library of Roxboro High school Monday evening at 7:30. President Bardefn Winstead opened the meeting with the us ual formal procedure. A brief business session was held, and Secretary Bob Whitten was ap pointed to get the National Hi-Y charter framed, which is to be placed in the school library where the club meets. The president read an interest ing poem on “Character.” After the poem the scripture was read and Mr. Lanning, our Methodist preacher, talked to the boys on, “A Central Care to Build Your Life Around. This was a most inspiring and instructive talk. Joseph Calleia was born on the island of Malta, in the Mediter ranean, while Mme. Nina Kos hetz and Leonid Kinsky, also members of the cast, are natives of Russia. Here, too, was born Alexander Toluboff, art director; and Jamiel Hassen, technical di rector, comes from Arabia. James Wong Howe, camerman, is Chin ese.
