P. T. A. District Conference Dates Are Announced For the nearly 70,000 North Carolina Parent-Teacher mem bers, October and November are synonymqus wilih Disltrict con ferences, according to Mrs. Doy le D. Alley, State P. T. A. presi dent, who has just released a schedule of dates together with , the hostess associations for these conferences in all districts. Dele gates from practically all of the State’s 680 local associations will attend one of these meetings, tak ing back to their membership in formation made available through experienced and trained work ers. Dates have been so arrang ed that Mrs. Alley may be pre sent at all ten conferences. Roxboro members of the Par ent-Teacher association will at tend their district conference, No. 6, at Jonesboro, where Mrs. L. D. Wall will be director in charge. It is not yet known who the Boxboro representatives will be, but the meeting is scheduled to be held on October 18, said Mrs. R. H. Shelton, president of the local association. o Army Enlistments May Be Made Now At District Office Colonel H. A. Wells, Infantry, the United States army recruit ing officer for North and South Carolina, announced today that he had just received authority to enlist a large number of qualified young white men for assignments to various arms of service at Fort Bragg, N. Clyde Whitt, patrol leader of the Raven patrol, had charge of the meeting. The meeting was opened by Harry Kirby leading the scouts in the scout oath. Bernard Whitfield taught the troop a new yell. Then they had a cracker eating contest, the win ner being Clyde Whitt and second place was taken by Billy Spen cer. Then the roll was called. Af ter the business meeting the boys were entertained by a game of first-aid baseball.
