First party cf this past weekj was a bridge party given by Mrs. Gordon Browgi on Tuesday at her home, with Miss Watkins as an honor guest. Club prize was! won by Miss Winnie McWhorter and visitor’s prize by Mrs. Frank Ellington, while to Miss Watkins was presented a cake plate and server. On Thursday afternoon Mes dames Harry Winstead, E. P. Dun lap and The mas Woody, friends of Miss Watkin’s mother, the late Mrs. William Cobb Watkins, en tertained at the home of Mrs. Woody. After various games had ■been enjoyed for some time, Miss Watkins received a miscellaneous shower. Light refreshments were served. Hostess at a dinner on Friday evening for Miss Watkins and her fiance was Miss Lisette Allgood, who received her guests at her residence at 7 o’clock, those pre sent being Miss Watkins and Mr. Pemberton; Miss Allgood and Thomas Bump ass; Miss Ernestine Wilkerson and Malcolm Warren; E. E. Bradsher, Jr.; Miss Virgina Wilson and Robert Michaels and Miss Mary Elizabeth Sanders and Thoms Hatchett. On Saturday morning Miss Sanders honored Miss Watkins with a bridge luncheon. Playing began at 10:30 o’clock and was followed by a luncheon served at the noon hour, those present be ing intimate friends of the hostess and the bride-elect. A. recent ly purchased nearly $400.00 worth of new equipment for the school. The purchases, made in coopera tion with the county board of education, consisted of curtahw and cyclorama for the auditorium stage and about 70 new books for the high school library..
