In presenting her treatment of the subject Mrs. Wilburn review ed “Mark Twain’s America” and read passages from the book, as well as from an “Uncle Remus” story by Joel Chandler Harris, while Mrs. Bullock chose “Great est Pages From American Humor” and read quotations from Will Rogers and Edgar A. Guest. Dinner was served in the hotel dining room, where the table de. corations 'consisted of jonquils, spriea and japonica. In addition to club members, those present included Mrs. W. C. Martin and Miss Myrtle McDade. Rotarians Hold Weekly Dinner Session Thursday Presentation of a program on “Community Service”, wjith H. K. Strang as chairman, and J. W. TTT Tll, y "i" I' ~> )i iiwis mi«t“ Vi Roxboro High School Juniors (Jive Seniors Elaborate Dinner - Dance Gayest and most colbrful event of the week and outstanding on the social calendar of the spring season was the first formal Rox-' boro High school Junior-Senior dinner-dance given Friday ev ening at Hotel Roxboro, where more than 160 ycung men and women, together with sponsors, faculty members and spepial guests enjoyed the hospitality of the Juniors. The Juniors, who staged the af fair, with the capable assistance of their faculty committee, com posed of Miss Lucy Bowers, Miss Ruth Johnson and Mrs. Leo Ra bon, prepared for food and mer riment on an elaborate scale. Senior colors of blue and silver and Junior colors of rose and green were accented throughout the dining room-ballroom with effective decorations suspended from the ceiling and the chandel iers and which were repeated in floral decorations on the tables. Place-card booklets also serv ing as programs fob the evening,' had an attractive cover designed, by Miss Marjorie Monk, cf the Junior class, while the costumes of members of the Freshman j class, who assisted with serving, | added to the brilliance of the! scene, which sparkled all around 1 1 because of the vari-colored even-] ing gownes of the young hostess-] - es and their guests. < At the dinner the formal pro- ] gram included an address of wel come by Hassell Whitfield, pre sident of the Junior class, with a response iby Miss Louise Walker, Senior president.
