lanta, Ga., were guests of Rev.

They were on their way to Bal

Baptist Convention. Mrs. Katz is
a niece of Mrs. West and is known
from her previous visits to Rox

has returned to her home at

Mrs. Clyde Barnes Murphy, of Rox
boro, formerly Miss Alice Marie Newman,
of Roxboro and Henderson, who on Thurs
day, June 6, was married to Mr. Murphy
at the Christian church, Henderson. She
is the daughter of D. L. Newman and the
late Mrs. Newman, of Henderson.
Mrs. N. S. Thompson is spend
ing some time in Hendersonville
visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ber
nard Crowell.

All In Longhand
William Anthony McGuire, not
ed Hollywood scenarist and pro
ducer, who writes everything in
longhand, prepared the script for
Darryl F. Zanuck’s production of
“Lillian Russell,’’ the 20th Cen
tury-Fox picture featuring Alice
Faye, Don Ameche, Henry Fonda
and others, which is at the Pal
ace theatre Monday and Tuesday.
McGuire estimated that he used
1,800 pencils for the task. The
completed script comprised a pile
of writing - paper measuring 18
inches high.
Also prominently featured in
the cast are Edward Arnold fas
Diamond Jim Brady), Warren
William, Leo Carrillo and many
others. Irving Cummings direct
ed the film. Gen Markey was
associate prorducer.

o’clock and games were enjoyed

Huldah Blanks Friday evening,
