Phelps, Person county director of the district, from ten o’clock in the morning until four o’clock in the afternoon, according to announcement made today. There will be several outstand ing speakers who will bring time ly suggestions on the possibilities of conserving soils and increasing the yields of crops. Some of those who will speak are: W. Herbert White, chairman of the D&n Riv er Soil Conservation district: E. B. Garrett, State Coordinator; Joe Ellis, in charge of the Person county office, and Miss Velma Beam, Home Agent, who will have a message for the women. Those present will be interest ed in seeing the tractor and grad er and other terracing tools avail able for those who are already members of the District, and also for those who expect to become members in the future. Illness Is Fatal To Scout Leader Burlington, Aug. 12 Henry Jackson Overman, 38, educator, nationally recognized for his work died early Sunday at St. Loes Hospital, Greensboro, following two weeks of critical illness. Cherokee Council awarded him the Silver Beaver in 1939 as the most outstanding Scouter. In his possession at the time of dedth was a flag from the King of Eng land which he had planned to un veil at a monument he was er ecting in memory of British sol diers who died and were buried at Snow Camp.
