SPORT slants! Water About Here They say that the greens on the local golf course will be getting water by Monday. The pipe is all ready and the lake is full of water. The greens need water and need it badly. The ninth green has had water for about three weeks and it is looking fine. Boon they will all be looking good and then Dewey Bradsher and Henry Gates can have no excuse. The next step is to improve the tees. Wonder if we could possibly get a little grass on them? O Have You Seen One? Have you seen a softball game yet ? If you haven’t you are missing something good. Our advice is to get a dime— from somewhere—and go to the ball park on Tuesday or Thursday night. If you are not pleased with what you get for your dime, we have an idea that Baxter Mangum will gladly refund your money. Boftball is here to stay and Roxboro is already turning out a number of excellent softball players. o Nice Fellow You read a lot in the papers about Golf Pros, but not often do you read about our “pro.” In Fred Main, the ltox boro “pro,” we have one of the nicest boys in the game. And he knows his golf too. Fred stays rather busy and doesn’t| have time to take part in many golf matches, but he shoots! an excellent game when he does play. He is always ready to help a fellow with his golf and he! is interested in every phase of Country Club activity. Koxboro is lucky to get a man like Fred. o Slaughter Gets 3 For 4 In a ball game Thursday with the Cincinnati Reds. Enos Slaughter got 3 hits out of 4 times'up. One of these was a two bagger. This will help Enos in his batting average Koxboro's contribution to to Cardinals is doing 0 K. this year and it looks like he is going to keep it up. Then you suddenly were transformed into what seemed to me a bad-mannered and irresponsible gorilla. “You yelled at people who had just as much right on the road as you.
