In June 1941 our firm made its first decisive move to meet the
crisis we are facing today, and since we have tried to do our part
by complying with the rules and regulations placed upon us.
In his special message to Congress of April 27. 1942, the Presi
dent spoke the following words, “We Must Discourage Credit
and Installment Buying, and Encourage the Paying Off of Debts,
Mortgages, and Other Obligations.
Under regulations “W” every firm in the United States doing a
credit business is forced to comply with Federal rules and regu
lations. If we wilfully disobey the Federal rules and regulations
that are placed upon us our store will be closed and we cannot
open another anywhere in the U. S. A.
We want our customers to realize what we are facing today and
do their part by meeting their obligations with us. If you are due
us ail account we want you to see us at once.
